Efrain Segura was recently presented with a Ben Jackson Foundation Military Travel award by Larry Jackson.
Efrain Segura recently enlisted in the US Marine Corps. On May 31st, he became the 10th recipient of the Ben Jackson Foundation Military Travel Award. The award was presented at Bailey's Run Vineyard in New Glarus at a recent trivia night event to benefit the Foundation.
Segura, a 2016 graduate of New Glarus High School, will leave for basic training in early September.
"I enlisted to serve the country that gave my family and friends everything we have today. I have friends who spoke highly of the Marine Corps, as well as the brother/sister hood between all serving members," said Segura.
Once Segura completes boot camp, he will continue training to become an aviation mechanic.
Earlier in the week, two graduates of Pecatonica High School also received a Travel Award. Auston Bedward and Cody Kastner received their awards at the school's 2019 Senior Recognition Banquet and have also enlisted in the Marine Corps.
