Sheriff Identifies Deceased Inmate

On Monday, June 10, 2019 at approximately 11:40 a.m., Green County Jail Deputies were alerted that an inmate was in medical distress in a maximum security cellblock.
Green County EMS and Monroe Fire Department personnel were alerted and Deputies attempted to perform life-saving measures on the inmate. The life-saving measures were unsuccessful and the inmate, 27-year-old Kyle E. Bearden, was pronounced dead by the Green County Coroner at the Jail. Bearden had been incarcerated in the Green County Jail since January 26, 2019 on two counts of 1st Degree Child Sexual Assault and two counts of Exposing Genitals to a Child. His next court date had been scheduled for June 19, 2019.
Monroe Police are investigating the inmate’s death. There were no obvious signs of physical trauma to Bearden.
An autopsy conducted on Monday was inconclusive and the Green County Coroner and Monroe Police will be awaiting the results of toxicology tests that could take several weeks.
