Pictured here is the Belleville Wildcat team of 1943. They were 7-0, and declared state champions for 6-man football.

For more than 90 years, Belleville has offered its student body, alumni and community 'Friday Night Lights', as our hometown football team gives their all in competition with area schools. Just as it was in 1928, today's Wildcats do their best to represent not only their teammates and themselves, but also the proud history of their parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents and, in some instances, their great-grandparents. As the team battles it out in the trenches, a sea of fans wearing the blue and gold of the Wildcats can be heard cheering all the way to the outskirts of town!

On Friday, August 23, 2019, there will be the third reunion for ALL Belleville High School football alumni. This group includes all former players, coaches, cheerleaders, managers and fans from 1928 through 2018. At each reunion, we recognize a specific era of Belleville football, and this year, we are recognizing the 1941-1963 era.

Six men coached the Wildcats over those years, with coaches Neil Lunenschloss (1941), John Azzalino (1950), Charles Tveten (1951) and Ted Wheelock (1952) all serving one year. Recent Wildcat Wall of Fame inductee C.H. Hageman coached the team from 1942 through 1949, and Darrell Dillman coached from 1953 through 1963.

Over those 23 seasons, the Wildcats amassed a record of 110 wins, 44 loses and 1 tie. During this period, the Wildcats won conference championships seven times, had five undefeated seasons and were declared the 1943 State Champions for 6-man football.

This event will be held in conjunction with the Belleville Wildcat vs New Holstein Huskies double header football game held at the Sports Complex starting at 5:00 p.m. The schedule is: 5:00 p.m., Belleville vs New Holstein JV Game. 7:00 p.m., Belleville vs New Holstein Varsity Game

At halftime of the varsity game, we are asking all the players, cheerleaders and managers from 1941 through 1963 to make their way to the field to be recognized and honored.

A commemorative program published by the Belleville Area Historical Society will be made available at the game giving the highlights of Belleville Wildcat Football from the seasons of 1928 through 1963.

Please make plans to attend, and we look forward to seeing you!
