Last Thursday night was a soccer celebration of the community. The evening started with the Varsity Reserve team defeating Lodi 5-nil. The balanced scoring attack was led by Logan Niesen, Gavin Boyum, and Ryan Hagen with one goal each, and Jake Fahey scoring two. Raider goalkeepers Luke Brecklin and Cam Kleiboer supported the shutout.

Dozens of youth players wearing Sugar River jerseys came to support the team. Youth players were paired with a high school "superfriend" and had the opportunity to be announced and walk out on the field together before the game. Players autographed team posters for the kids after the game.

The Varsity game book-ended the night and was no sleeper. With Lodi ranked #2 in the conference behind the Raiders, the tension was high. The Raiders responded with a 4-1 win. Less than two minutes into the game Breckin Faber scored, assisted by Tyler Lueschow, silencing the Lodi fans. Two more first half goals were put in by Ryan Downing (assist Carter Siegenthaler) and Charlie Douma (assist Ben Lukszys). Carter Siegenthaler made the final Raider goal in the second half. Keepers Julian Lutz and Cam Kleiboer combined for five saves.

The Raiders now lead the Capital with a 6-0 conference record.
