Sugar River Wrestlers Begin Season

Sugar River Wrestlers Place Four in Top Six at Black Hawk Invitational - Top Row: Joe Quaglia and Robert Chenoweth Bottom Row: Brian Hollis and Samantha Peterson

On December 5th, the Sugar River wrestling team competed at a Dual vs Pecatonica/Argyle. Pec/Argyle won, 51-18.

Wrestling at 126 lbs, Sugar River's Alonso Vega won by fall over Dawson Gross.

At 132 lbs, SR's Joe Quaglia lost to Noah Krahenbuhl.

Wrestling at 138 lbs, SR's Brian Hollis lost to Kristian Orloff.

Sugar River's Brycen Schuhmacher lost to Dakota Doescher at 145 lbs.

Robert Chenoweth, wrestling at 160 lbs for Sugar River, won over Justin Heatheshaw.

Wrestling at 170 lbs, SR's Patrick Samon lost to Easton Schraepfer.

Sugar River wrestled at the Black Hawk invitational on December 7th and placed 9th overall.

Wrestling at 106 lbs, Samantha Peterson (1-4) placed 5th and scored 7 team points. In round one, Peterson lost by fall to Madison West's Andres Villalobos. Peterson received a bye in round two and in round three Peterson lost by fall to Belmont/Platteville's Caden Lindholm. In round five, Peterson lost by fall to Epworth, Western Dubuque's Tanner Gaul.

Wrestling at 126 lbs, Alonso Vega (1-2) placed 7th and scored 4 team points. In round one, Vega received a bye in and round two Vega lost by fall to Pecatonica/Argyle's Noah Krahenbuhl. In round three Vega received a bye and in round four Vega lost to Laconia's Ted Holdmann. In the 7th Place Match, Vega won by fall over Madison West's Leonarda Pribanic.

Joe Quaglia (32-13) placed 1st and scored 28 team points, wrestling at 132 lbs. In round one, Quaglia had a bye and in round two he won by fall over Epworth, Western Dubuque's Nathan Casey. In round three Quaglia won by decision over Belmont/Platteville's John Burbach. Quaglia won the 1st Place Match by fall over Laconia's Colton Lovejoy.

Wrestling at 138 lbs, Aiden Lietz (0-3) placed 8th. In round one, Lietz received a bye and in round two Lietz lost by tech fall to Madison West's Dylan Chambers. Lietz received a bye in round three and in round four Lietz lost by fall to Fennimore's Connar Northouse. In the 7th Place Match, Lietz lost by fall to Mount Horeb's Hanna Errthum.

Wrestling at 138 lbs, Brian Hollis (17-19) placed 6th and scored 7 team points. In round one, Hollis received a bye and in round two lost by tech fall to Belmont/Platteville's Tanner Paulson. Hollis received a bye in round three and in round four Hollis won by decision over Mount Horeb's Hanna Errthum. In the Fifth Place Match, Fennimore's Connar Northouse won by fall over Hollis.

Wrestling at 145 lbs, Bryce Schuhmacher (1-2) scored 4 team points. In round one Schuhmacher won by fall over Darlington/Black Hawk's Cruz Richard. In round two, Schuhmacher lost by fall to Laconia's Langdon Everson and in round three Schuhmacher lost by fall to Fennimore's Dawson Cole.

Wrestling at 160 lbs, Robert Chenoweth (29-12) placed 5th and scored 11 team points. Chenoweth had a bye in round one and in round two he lost by decision to Epworth, Western Dubuque's Tony Lyon. In round three, Chenoweth won by fall over Pecatonica/Argyle's Sergi Miguel. In round four, Chenoweth won by decision over Belmont/Platteville's Shannon Gill-Mast. In the 5th Place Match, Chenoweth won by fall over Madison West's Daniel Brown.

Wrestling at 170 lbs was Patrick Samon (0-2). Samon lost by fall to Madison West's Patrick Burke in round one and in round two received a bye. In round three, Samon lost by fall to Parkview's Wyatt Egan.

Sugar River hosts an invitational at New Glarus High School on December 14th and a Dual against Verona on December 19th and will wrestle at a tournament held at UW-Oshkosh on December 28th against Lourdes Academy.
