Belleville Girls Fall in Two Games Last Week
January 30, 2020
After having a really good outing the previous Friday night, the Wildcats came out flat when they faced Brodhead on Monday night, which led to them getting down early. After the Cardinals took the early lead, the Wildcats struggled to gain any momentum within the game causing them to lose with a final score of 72-41.
Leading scorers for Belleville were Ava Foley and Mickey Stampfl, with 11 and 10 points respectively.
On Thursday, January 23rd, the Wildcats traveled to Wisconsin Heights to take on the Vanguards. Coach Pharo stated, "The Wildcats had been dealing with illnesses leading up to this game which didn't help when the Vanguards came out on fire in the first half, shooting over 60% from the field. This led to a double-digit deficit by half-time."
The Wildcats fought hard the entire game but couldn't overcome the fast first half start by the Vanguards, which turned into a 71-52 loss for Belleville.
Top scorers for the Wildcats were Callie Smith with 12 points and 11 rebounds, Erin Kittleson with 10 points, and Ava Foley adding 9 to the Wildcat scoreboard. Coach Pharo was also very happy with the performance of senior Ella Campbell, who came off the bench and scored 8 points, including 2/2 from the 3-point line.
Belleville faced Waterloo on Tuesday, January 28th, which is also Parent's Night, and will host Marshall on January 31st.
