March 26, 2020
Occupation: Civil Engineer
Years in district: 4
Have you been on the school board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: I have not been on a school board or held a public office before.
Why are you running for school board? I am running for school board because I deeply want to support the kids and District. Monticello is a community full of involvement with each other and the students, and has so much potential for gigantic things. Many community members are Monticello graduates of multiple generations, and continue to live here and love this area. I want to invest time and energy into the children so that our community will continue to prosper. I have a background in construction and feel I can bring insight into any projects we may need to tackle. I have an understanding of cost and budget and working with many types of people with a multitude of skill sets.
What issues do you find most important to the school board? How would you handle these issues? I believe that I will support the school board's efforts to teach the children how to be respectful members of society, great employees and sound ethical people. They are obtaining a balance of hard and soft skills and we will continue to help them have opportunities to grow.
I am very interested in many topics, not having ever been on a school board previously, but I have three school age children of my own. A few matters that stand out are how we continue to work to obtain and keep students within the open enrollment process and how we are taking care of all levels of learning aptitudes.
Any additional comments? Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself as a school board candidate.
