Incumbent? Yes

Have you been on the school board or held any other public office before? If so, please describe: I was elected to the School Board in 2018. In addition, I currently serve as Chair of the Curriculum/Sports/Co-Curricular Sub-Committee and as a member of the Policy/Communication Sub-Committee.

Why are you running for school board? Serving on the School Board is an investment in the community and youth of New Glarus. Our district is a strong one and always strives to maintain excellence. I welcome the opportunity to keep working toward our strategic goals, including to prepare all students for college, career and life-readiness; to recruit and retain high quality staff; provide and maintain facilities that foster academic achievement; and promote equity in our district to ensure all students have access to a high quality education.

What issues do you find most important to the school board? How would you handle these issues? Currently, an important issue in New Glarus is continuing to improve and modernize our facilities. Since the completion of a recent community survey, the school district has been exploring how to best proceed to maximize impact, honor the indicated priorities of our community members and maintain fiscal responsibility.

Any additional comments? It has been a pleasure serving on the school board for the last two years. I truly believe that local governance is paramount to successfully serving all students in our schools. Having a working knowledge of policy, facility and budgetary issues will allow me to seamlessly advocate for what will continue to make our district one that exceeds expectations.
