Donations Needed: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
April 2, 2020
As of Sunday afternoon (March 29, 2020), there were over 1,100 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in the State of Wisconsin. Statewide, 13 individuals have died due to complications related to COVID-19. There are five confirmed positive cases in Green County.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Initiative
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Green County has activated its emergency response system to create a plan to manage an anticipated surge of residents who will require in-home care or hospitalization. One of the biggest expected needs is an adequate supply of personal protective equipment that will be needed to keep first responders and health care workers safe while they work to care for the sick and control the spread of the virus.
What we have learned from the experience of other states is that it’s unlikely the stockpile of personal protective equipment available from the government will be enough to meet our needs in Green County. Therefore, the Green County Health Department, Green County Emergency Management, and Monroe Clinic are working together to maximize community resources and ensure adequate supply of needed resources for Green County. Collectively, we are reaching out to you, the members of our community, to ask for your help in meeting this anticipated need. These are the items of highest need: Surgical Gowns (all sizes); Face/Surgical Masks (all sizes); Gloves (Nitrile, Vinyl, or Butyl); N-95 Masks (Particulate Respirators); Isolation Gowns; Face Shields; Tyvek Coveralls; Thermometers; and Foot Covering.
If you have any of the items included in the list above that you would be willing to donate or sell, please contact Jane Sybers, Executive Director of the Monroe Clinic & Hospital Foundation, by email at Monfirstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (608) 324-2868. Monroe Clinic will be coordinating all responses and donations with Green County responders and providers to distribute where the supplies are most needed throughout the community.
Please give this request serious consideration. While these are some very unsettling times, with your help, we will continue to deliver the exceptional health care the members of our communities have come to know and expect.
