Lance Varney was recently welcomed on board as a Junior Firefighter for the Belleville Fire Department. Lance's older brother, Tyler, is a full time member of the department and currently in the Marine Corps boot camp. Lance said he watched his brother join, train and become a fire fighter and wants to follow in his footsteps. We are all proud of our current and former military members and are excited to have a younger family member join us!

The Belleville Fire Department's JR Fire Fighter Program is open to Belleville High students ages 15 to 18 years old, and offers an opportunity at giving back to your community while volunteering with the fire department. JR Fire Fighters train with the BFD, respond with the BFD, and are expected to follow all rules and regulations just as a full-time member would, with a few exceptions for their own safety.

The Belleville Fire Department is proud to offer this opportunity for high school students exploring a career in the fire service. If you have any questions about the program or are interested in joining as a JR Fire Fighter, please reach out to them.
