New Glarus FFA Alumni Has Help Providing for Families
July 23, 2020
This week the New Glarus FFA Alumni, with the help of Vita Plus of Madison and Hoesly's Meats LLC, are providing a pack of Hoesly's wieners and a pack of buns for each family receiving meals from the New Glarus School District.
Vita Plus is an employee owned feed manufacturing company based in Madison, and serving livestock producers across the Upper Midwest. Their customers work hard every day to produce the dairy, beef, and pork products for the safe and high quality food system we enjoy here in the U.S. This COVID-19 pandemic has challenged everyone, and livestock producers have been especially hit hard by food chains that have been disrupted by a variety of pressures. Throughout this difficult time, Vita Plus remains committed to serving their customers and helping rural communities. They recently launched a project to contribute $100,000 in support of this goal. A Vita Plus staff member saw the Alumni's donations on Facebook posts and Channel 15's news story. They contacted Mr. Ziegler to make an $825 donation.
The Alumni thought each family could use something different than the other weeks. The Alumni contacted Hoesly's Meats and they were onboard with the meat idea. Hoesly's liked the idea so much that they donated $400 towards the project, which made the donations large enough for the package of Hoesly's wieners and buns for all 120 families.
The New Glarus FFA Alumni wants to thank Vita Plus and Hoesly's Meats LLC for making this week's lunch donation possible. We hope that this gesture will continue to help our local farms as well as the families who receive it.
