New Glarus Home Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

July 30, 2020

On Friday, July 24th, the New Glarus Home identified through routine staff testing that an employee is positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus. The employee remains completely without any symptoms. That employee, and the employees with direct contact over the past week, immediately implemented self-isolation at home.

The New Glarus Home is working together with the Green County Health Department to ensure the continued safety of their residents. The Green County Health Department assured the New Glarus Home that the measures they had in place minimized the risk of spread within the facility. In an abundance of caution, they will increase the frequency of monitoring residents for symptoms and will again test all of the residents for COVID-19. The Green County Health Department recommends this testing take place next week, and supplies have been ordered.

In addition, plans for salon services, outdoor visits and return to meals in the dining room have been put on hold until we can confirm through testing that all residents and staff in our facility are COVID-19 free.

If you have any questions, you can reach out to the New Glarus Home’s Infection Control Nurse at (608) 636-2430.
