Area Needs Marion's Leadership
October 15, 2020
To the Editor,
We need Kriss Marion in the Wisconsin Legislature—now more than ever! As a lifelong resident of Wisconsin and a proud resident of rural Iowa County for nearly 25 years, I am so grateful for our strong values of looking out for each other, of stewarding our natural resources, of thinking about the generations to come. I know that Kriss shares these values—that she knows how important it is to support, among many things, strong education for our kids, clean air and water, the viability of small farms and rural broadband. Kriss genuinely cares and will advocate for rural values in the Legislature. We need that leadership.
Perhaps most importantly right now, our health and safety are important to Kriss. She supports a sound response to COVID, based on science; reliable mail-in voting for those who choose it, access to affordable health care for farmers and for everyone throughout our rural communities, adequate funding for our rural hospitals so that they can continue to provide a literal lifeline to us all, and equitable pricing for medicine. As a senior citizen with higher health risks and medical costs, I know Kriss’s leadership is very important to me and my husband. Her advocacy on behalf of all of us is essential right now. If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is that we are all in this together, and we need to support each other in order to get through this.
Our very way of life is being threatened right now, and we need strong leadership, in contrast to the reckless approach of her opponent and the Republican-led legislature. Their response has brought the chaos that has forced 72 Wisconsin counties and their health departments to struggle with containing COVID, and has threatened the well-being of the most vulnerable among us. Kriss will provide the leadership that we need so badly.
A vote for Kriss on November 3 is a vote for restoring strong values and good government to our Wisconsin Legislature.
