ADK Sorority Donates to HCE Bookworms Program
November 26, 2020
Monroe's Omicron chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) Sorority recently made a generous donation in the amount of $100 to the Wisconsin Bookworms program of Green County Home & Community Education (HCE).
Each year, the Bookworms program puts eight brand new books into the hands of each child in Leslie Bundy's 4K/Head Start class at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School in Monroe. HCE volunteers take turns reading to the class and interacting with fun activities one morning per month. Then, each child gets to take home a copy of the book along with an activity sheet for further application with their family at home.
ADK is an international honorary organization for female educators. The Omicron chapter of Monroe currently has 38 members and is active in recognizing and supporting outstanding educators, promoting educational and charitable projects, promoting high standards in education and strengthening the status of the teaching profession.
The Bookworms program of Green County HCE is extremely grateful for the generosity and support of the ladies of the Alpha Delta Kappa Omicron chapter in its endeavor to provide free books and an early reading experience for local children.
