Community Foundation Grant Supports Purchase of New Equipment for New Glarus Area EMS

January 14, 2021

On behalf of the New Glarus Community Foundation, Kaye Gmur presented a check to New Glarus Area EMS Chief Kristie Mueller.

New Glarus Area Emergency Medical Services has acquired new equipment to help improve patient care, thanks to a grant from the New Glarus Community Foundation. The $4,200 grant purchased two Nonin LifeSense Capnograph and Pulse Monitors, one for each New Glarus Area EMS ambulance.

"We are incredibly grateful to the New Glarus Community Foundation for this grant and the ability to enhance the equipment our team uses every day," New Glarus Area EMS Chief Kristie Mueller said. "These monitors will make a difference and are another tool that when teamed with our training will benefit patients in our care."

The Capnograph and Pulse Monitors track how effectively a patient is breathing and also help monitor the efficacy of resuscitation efforts on those facing life threatening emergencies. They assist in tracking vital signs like pulse and respiratory rates and also the oxygen saturation in a patient's blood stream.

The new monitors will be available for New Glarus Area EMS responders in early 2021.
