Homicide Investigation into Missing Infant from Albany

January 14, 2021

On Monday, January 11, 2021, new information was released about the death of an infant in Albany.

Authorities said that the infant’s death is being investigated as a homicide, and a person of interest has been taken into custody.

On Saturday, January 9, 2021, Albany Police, along with Green County Sheriff’s Deputies, began a search for a recently born infant in the Village of Albany. The initial investigation indicated that a female infant was born on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at an Albany residence, and carried from the residence by a lone male that was identified as being the father of the child. The father told investigating officers that he turned the infant over to an unidentified third party and the child has not been seen since. The unidentified third party was reported to be driving a gray Chevrolet Equinox, and the individual was said to be an acquaintance of the father.

A search of the Village was conducted, with no results, and law enforcement has been unable to identify the person that reportedly took possession of the infant.

Due to the substance of the information that was obtained, this case did not fit the criteria for an Amber Alert.

Tragically, the infant child was found deceased in southern Wisconsin on January 10, 2021. The death is being investigated as a homicide, and a person of interest has been taken into custody.

The investigation of the death is still active. Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Green County Sheriff’s Department at 608-328-9400. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Green County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-7463 or submit a tip through the Green County Crime Stoppers website at or on the P3 Tips mobile app by downloading the app through the App Store or Google Play store.

Law enforcement is no longer looking for a gray Chevrolet Equinox.
