January 21, 2021
On January 12th, the New Glarus Lady Knights hosted the Lady Vanguards of Wisconsin Heights. New Glarus had a 41-17 halftime lead and went on to win the game. The final score was New Glarus 70, Wisconsin Heights 35.
“I thought we showed great patience in our half-court offense,” said Coach Kevin Parman. “I would like to see more movement, but we were able to get good shots and convert! Another great team win with everyone getting minutes and valuable experience.”
Leading New Glarus with 23 points, which included three 3-point shots, was Lindsey Schadewalt. Jaylynn Benson scored 14 points and Grace Nommensen scored 8 points.
On Friday, January 15th, New Glarus hosted Marshall. The Lady Knights trailed at the half, and while they persevered in the second half they could not make up the deficit. They lost, the final score was Marshall 68, New Glarus 54.
“As a coach, you look forward to playing great teams! And to have an opportunity to do it twice in a season is even better,” explained Coach Parman. “It’s the best way to measure your growth. And, I truly believe this team grows a little bit every game. The first meet we took a 28-point loss! This time around we were on a 7 game winning streak and playing with a lot of confidence. Even though we lost by 14, this was a much closer game, with multiple lead changes in the first half. I’m very proud of the way we played, we played with a lot of heart. We have 7 games remaining before playoffs and as a group we are excited to have these games to continue to improve before playoffs.”
Lindsey Schadewalt, with three 3-pointers, and Jaylynn Benson scored 13 points each to lead the team, while Grace Nommensen put 10 points on the board.
New Glarus hosted Deerfield on January 18th. They will play at Cambridge on January 21st and at Fall River on January 23rd.
