Wildcats Squeak Past BSMS Knights in First Game

The Belleville Wildcats varsity football team hosted Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg on March 26th for their first game of the spring season.
The Wildcats began the scoring in the first quarter, on a TD pass from Trevor Syse to Anthony Nolden. The extra point was not successful. The second quarter was quiet for both teams, with no scoring, and Belleville led at the halftime break, 6-0.
In the third quarter, Anthony Nolden caught a pass from Trevor Syse to score another touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful. Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg then scored a touchdown and converted on a 2-point conversion.
In the fourth quarter, Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg intercepted a pass and ran it in for a touchdown. Belleville took the lead for the win near the end of the game on a pass from Syse to Nolden and with an extra point, Belleville won the game, 19-16.
At QB, Trevor Syse was 12 for 21 attempted for 217 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Tyler Fahey rushed for 57 yards on 13 attempts and Anthony Nolden had 152 receiving yards with 3 touchdowns.
The Wildcats are scheduled to play at Cuba City at Southwestern High School on April 3rd, at Black Hawk on April 9th, and hosting Southwestern on April 16th.
