Wildcats Lose to Black Hawk/Warren

The Belleville Wildcats football team traveled south to Warren, IL, to take on the Black Hawk/Warren Warriors. Belleville lost a hard fought game. The final score was Belleville 29, Black Hawk/Warren 38.

The Wildcats scored first in the game, with a pass from Trevor Syse to Anthony Nolden for an 84-yard gain. The extra point was good. The second quarter was dominated by Black Hawk/Warren, who scored three times. Belleville’s Syse passed to Patrick Samon for a 3-yard gain to score a touchdown, and the extra point was good. The halftime score was 20-14, with Black Hawk/Warren in the lead.

In the third quarter, the Warriors added another 6 points to their lead. Belleville scored twice in the fourth quarter, both times on passes from Syse to Nolden. However, Black Hawk/Warren also scored twice and ended up with the win.

Trevor Syse had 249 passing yards on 17 completions, four touchdowns and one interception. Syse also had 32 rushing yards.

Sawyer Fahey had 24 rushing yards on four attempts and Dylan Posthuma rushed for 15 yards on two attempts.

Anthony Nolden led all receivers with 151 yards on 5 receptions, with three touchdowns, while Carson Syse had 92 yards on 8 receptions, Josh Peterson had 7 yards on 1 reception and Andrew Ace and Patrick Samon each had 3 yards on 1 reception. Samon also scored a touchdown.

The Wildcats will host Southwestern High School on Friday, April 16th. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
