Wildcats CC Team Runs Well at Midwest Invite
September 30, 2021
The Wildcats ran at the Midwest Invite in Janesville over the weekend. This is by far our biggest race, with hundreds of participants from all over the state and the country. The course is fast and flat, which gives the athletes an opportunity to push themselves. There were three races, a Varsity race, a Blue Qualifier race and a White race.
Many personal and career bests were set today. The boys Varsity team consisted of our top five runners, including Carter Scholey, who received a medal for his 23rd place finish and a career best of 16:11. He was followed by Angelo Dohm (18:22.8), Matt Loshaw (18:35.4), Jordan Wilder (19:00.1) and Aiden Campbell (19:19.7). Well done, boys!
The girl's Blue Qualifier race was led by Alora Spiegel, who medaled with a 15th place finish and a time of 21:30.0. She was followed by Lainey Winkers with a time of 22:20.1.
The boy's White race was led by Niles Monroe, who medaled with an 18th place with a time of 19:43.3. Following him was Blake Johnson (20:30.5), William Booth (22:32.2), Carson Heller (22:56.0), William Gobel (23:31.9), Adrian Jenkins (25:12.0), Ben Remy (25:36.7), James Gustafson (25:56.3), Zach Thole (29:55.9), Cole Monroe (32:57.8) and Keegan Dohm (33:28.9).
The girl's White race also saw impressive finishes by Allison Dyhaug (27:32.6), Maddie Miller (27:42.6), Emily Gomez (28:03.0), Ruby Gustafson (28:37.1), Lauren Bartels (29:26.6) and Annika Esselstrom (34:51.0).
I am so proud of these kids, and impressed by the work they've been putting into their training, and am looking forward to our next meet which is in Platteville on the University course Saturday morning!
