Highway 69 – River Street Construction Informational Meeting

The Highway 69 – River Street construction project slated by the DOT starts the first week of May 2017 in the Village of Belleville.
An informational meeting, “Surviving Construction,” will be held March 27, 2017, at the Senior Center on S. Vine Street, at 6:00 p.m. Two representatives from the DOT will be on hand to provide information on the construction process and answer questions. This project will run through August with completion scheduled just before Labor Day. Yes, it goes all summer long.

Science Night In Belleville

This year's Science Night wowed about 200 community members of all ages by allowing people who attended to see 13 different demonstrations and visit about 35 displays.  Belleville's AP Chemistry and AP Physics students had an onstage show and students in many other science courses had an opportunity to showcase their experiments, research, interactive demonstrations, and activities.

Dane County's Tooth Ache

Dane County residents are showing up by the thousands in the county’s emergency rooms and urgent care clinics because of bad teeth.  According to a report from Public Health Madison & Dane County (PHMDC) and the Oral Health Coalition of Dane County, more than 4,000 patients presented with dental pain at local emergency and urgent care clinics in Dane County in 2015.

Badger Lapidary and Geological Society 47th Annual Rock, Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show

The Badger Lapidary and Geological Society’s 47th Annual Rock, Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, and Sunday, March 26, 2017. Saturday’s hours are 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and Sunday’s hours are 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
The show will be held at a new location this year, at the Rock County Fairgrounds Craig Center Building, 1301 Craig Avenue, Janesville, Wisconsin.

Local Severe Weather Safety and Spotter Classes to be Held

Green County Emergency Management announces that local severe weather/tornado spotters’ classes will be held Thursday, March 30. The first class will be at 12:30 p.m., at the Green County Justice Center, 2841 6th Street, Monroe, WI, and the second class is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., at the Brodhead Fire Department, 1100 West 3rd Avenue, Brodhead. Tim Halbach, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service, will be instructing the classes.

The Caregiving Journey: Middle Stage Dementia

This is an intensive program for family members caring for someone with middle stage dementia, designed to increase their understanding of the effects of dementia, gain insight into their own strengths and challenges as caregivers, enhance coping skills related to caregiving responsibilities, problem solving, decision making, getting help and end of life and develop and individualized plan of care.
This program is developed by the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin and funded by Bader Philanthropies.
