The Green County Master Gardeners will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, July 25th, at 6:30 p.m., at the UW-Madison Teaching Garden, located at 5201 Fen Oak Drive, Madison, WI. The garden surrounds the Dane County UW-Extension office building.

2019 Green County Master Showman Competition Results

The 14th annual Green County Master Showman Competition was held at the 2019 Green County Fair on Saturday, July 20th. This event brings in the top senior (grades 10 and above) showmen in the dairy, beef, sheep, swine, goats, rabbits and poultry departments at the fair. Two youth from dairy, beef, sheep, swine and goats are invited to participate, where only one youth is selected from the rabbit and poultry divisions.

Green County Fall Nationals Donates Defibrillators to Local Organizations

Last week, the organizers from the Green County Fall Nationals donated six defibrillators to some local organizations, including the New Glarus School District, Monticello Police Dept., Belleville Police Dept., Belleville School District, Brooklyn Police Dept., and Juda School District. The group has also provided financial support to individuals who have suffered hardship or tragedy.
The 13th Annual Green County Fall Nationals will be held on September 21, 2019, at the Green County Fairgrounds.

The Monticello Community Club welcomed everyone to the annual Monticello Homecoming celebration. The festival began Friday, July 12, and ran through Sunday, July 14, 2019.

USDA Now Making Payments for New Dairy Margin Coverage Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) opened enrollment for the Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC) program on June 17th, and has started issuing payments to producers who purchased coverage. Producers can enroll through September 20, 2019.

Agrace Offers ^Bridges^" and ^"Spouse/Partner Loss^" Grief Support Groups in August"

In August, local adults who are grieving can find hope and healing at the Agrace Grief Support Center, 2906 Marketplace Drive, Fitchburg.
Agrace will host three grief support programs: “Bridges,” “Summer Spouse/Partner Loss” and “LGBTQ Spouse/Partner Loss Group.” These programs provide emotional and peer support in a professionally led group setting.

Taking Care of You is a program offering practical strategies and experiences to help you deal with the stress in your life in a healthy way.
Activities of the program are aimed at increasing mindfulness, positive emotions, optimism, resiliency to stress, coping skills, and self-care of one’s mind, body, and spirit.
At the completion of the day you will leave with the tools to improve your own life and the life of your colleagues, and customers. Participants who attend the entire day will be certified to teach this curriculum.
