Belleville Veterans Memorial Park

We are taking applications at this time for any honorable discharged Veterans, or men and women now serving in the military for our Veterans Memorial wall of names.
The minimum donation is $125 per name to have someone come out and engrave names on the stone, and when we have a list of names compiled we will order the work.

Walter H. Ringhand, age 100 of Monroe, died on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Walter was born on February 4, 1919 in Monticello, the son of Herman and Wilma (Schwartzlow) Ringhand.

JACOB KARR

Jacob Karr, age 23, a former Belleville, resident died on Monday, June 24, 2019, in Texas. He was born on November 17, 1995 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, the son of David and Laurie (Welsh) Karr.
Jacob graduated from Belleville High School in 2014. Jacob loved football and his truck. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and was always there to help with a smile.
Jacob is survived by his parents, David and Laurie Karr; brother, Noah; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

ROBERT E. BUEHL

Robert Edwin Buehl, 93, proud farmer, avid conversationalist, and the patriarch of his family, departed from this life on Sunday evening, June 30, 2019, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Bob, a resident of the Glarner Lodge in New Glarus, was born in Monroe Township on January 30, 1926, the first child of Edwin and Clara (Teuscher) Buehl.

UW Health Belleville Family Medicine recently welcomed new residents.

Brenna attended Luther College and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
Brenna Gibbons MD (PGY-1) grew up in the tiny town of Coon Valley, WI, nestled in the Driftless area. Brenna moved to Decorah, IA, to earn her degree in Biology. While in Decorah, she coached collegiate basketball, volunteered with Iowa Hospice and a free clinic and gained an appreciated for tightly-knit communities.

The Role of Journalists

With the rise of cable news, much of journalism turned towards soundbites and infotainment. The internet accelerated this trend, with endless analysis of metrics and clicks and a move towards one page articles—because readers did not like scrolling down the page. Twitter and Facebook are perhaps the perfect example of this trend, with Twitter limited to 280 characters per tweet, and Facebook posts including only a sentence or two teaser above the link.
The press is still here, however.
