Monticello Halloween Update

Village President Leaora Miller announced that Trick or Treating in Monticello will be held on Friday, October 30, from 4:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. Miller said, “We are asking that you all follow COVID-19 Restrictions at your own risk, practice social distancing, and safety precautions. This decision was not made lightly and we ask that you respect each other while out and about. If you do not want to participate, you do not have to. We understand and respect every person’s opinions and beliefs.”

Monticello Community Blood Drive

Monticello is holding a Community Blood Drive on Friday, October 16, 2020, from 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Avenue.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Event to Be Held in Belleville

The community of Belleville, in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will hold a Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at the Belleville Police Department, 61 Frederick Street, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please enter on W. Pearl Street, where you will drive through the garage. You do not need to leave your vehicle, this is a contact free event.

First United Church of Christ to Hold Tailgate To Go

After much discussion concerning the coronavirus pandemic and the protection and safety of our members and guests, the First United Church of Christ has regretfully decided not to host our annual turkey, ham and meatball dinner, craft and bake sale, and basket raffle this November. Instead, we are excited to announce our first Tailgate To Go as a way to safely celebrate our community spirit and support the ministries of our church.

Belleville NHS Cancels Food Pantry Collection

The Belleville National Honor Society has decided not to trick or treat for the food pantry this Halloween. However, they are looking forward to your support in the spring when they plan to hold a collection drive. More details will become available closer to the event.

Belleville Veterans Program Cancelled

The Belleville Veterans Program is cancelled this year, due to the COVID Virus. Hopefully we will be able to do something closer to the end of the year, when we once again can be together. Please remember our veterans with a phone call or note in the mail.

Belleville Chamber Invites You to Join UFO Day Dark Sky Event

Belleville, Wisconsin, has been looking to the skies for the improbable for decades. There was very little probability that, in 1987, several prominent members of the greater Belleville community would look to the skies and see unidentified flying objects (UFO’s). Still, it happened.

Beware of False Political Flyers

Dear Editor,
I am deeply disappointed with a couple of recent Republican flyers in my mailbox, spewing falsehoods about Kriss Marion. The first is the silly one with fake words placed on Kriss’s truck to make her look bad.
However, the latest untrue Republican flyer has cursing and childish name calling. It deserves tossing right in the garbage.
We Kriss Marion supporters also live in the 51st District. We know her as a very special, upbeat person. Someone who loves meeting people and treats everyone with respect and enthusiasm.

COVID-19 has brought forth its fair share of challenges in 2020, both professionally and personally for everyone in our community. While COVID-19 may not be as widely spread in our local area, cases do continue to increase, and the risks remain very real.
