Wildcats Fall to Pirates

On Tuesday, May 25, the Belleville Wildcats baseball team hosted Waterloo. The teams were pretty evenly matched until the fifth inning when Waterloo pulled away for the win. The final score was Waterloo 7, Belleville 3.
Ryan Downing was 4x1 at bat, scoring 1 run, while Anthony Nolden was 3x1 at bat, scoring 1 run with 1 RBI. Andrew Ace scored 1 run.
Trevor Syse struck out 6 from the pitcher’s mound, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while Kaden DeSmet struck out 1 and Aiden Keyes gave up 3 runs on 1 hit with no strike outs.

Knights Beat Wildcats

The New Glarus baseball team hosted Belleville on Monday, May 24. Taking an early lead, the Knights didn’t let up on the pressure and won over rival Wildcats, 13-4.
For New Glarus, Cooper Dreyfus went 4x2 at bat and scored 2 runs and 3 RBI, while Kylo Barker was 2x1 at bat scoring 1 run with 4 RBI and Brennan Butler was 3x1, scoring 2 runs. Nathan Streiff and Dominic Tollakson scored 2 runs each, while Leyton Mihlbauer, Darris Schuett, Carter Siegenthaler and Eli Zimmerman all scored 1 run each.

WIAA State Girls Soccer to Return to Uihlein Soccer Park 

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association will be returning to Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee as the host site of the State Girls Soccer Tournament on June 24-25, pending Board of Control approval.
The State Girls Soccer Tournament and all spring sports were canceled in 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The schedule and format of the State Tournament will be altered this year from its traditional format to continue accommodations for pandemic guidelines.

Raiders Shut Out Lodi on Senior Night

The Sugar River Raiders celebrated Senior Night on May 25th, with a win against Lodi. The final score was Sugar River 3, Lodi 0.
First half goals were scored by Regyn Jelle, assisted by Jaylynn Benson, and Callie Smith, assisted by Lainey Winkers.
In the second half, Jaylynn Benson scored a goal assisted by Regyn Jelle and Francesca Schiro.
Kaitlyn Peterson had 3 saves as GK, while Morgan Thompson had 5.
The Raiders played at Lake Mills on June 1st and will play at Watertown Luther Prep on June 3rd.

Monticello Class of 2021 Graduation

The Graduation Ceremony for the Monticello High School Class of 2021 was held on Saturday, May 30, 2021, in the Rehmstedt Gym.
Speakers included Natalie Roe (Past), Rudy Wicker (Present), and Mackenzie Errthum (Future). The Main Speaker, who had been chosen by the Class of 2021, was Mark Olson. Following the ceremony, there was a car parade through the village.

Nunes Begins Second Term as Alice in Dairyland

Julia Nunes of Chippewa Falls has begun her term as the 74th Alice in Dairyland, making her the first Alice to serve two consecutive terms in the program’s history. Nunes began serving as the 73rd Alice on July 6, 2020. Her term as the 74th Alice will end on July 15, 2022.

New App Improves Mobile Library Experience

Mobile computing devices have changed the way we communicate, shop and interact with the world around us. Public Libraries are no exception, and on June 1st a new LINKcat mobile app will be rolled out that will enhance interaction with the online library catalog. Belleville, Monticello and New Glarus library patrons join the rest of South Central Library System (SCLS) in a collective cheer.
