High School Students of the Month

Congratulations to Belleville High School's November Students of the Month. After being nominated from teachers from each department, they were honored at a December 8th luncheon. They were treated to Sugar River Pizza and Mrs. Schween's scotcharoos. Students also received movie passes donated by Marcus Theaters, along with their nomination form from their teachers. What a fantastic group of students!

HOWARD S. ROPER

Howard Stuart Roper, age 67 of Oregon, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015, surrounded by his family at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, after battling for 20 plus years with heart disease. He was born January 19, 1948, and was the adopted son of Raymond and Erma (Ott) Roper.

Arlene Isabel Solberg, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Ingleside Manor in Mount Horeb, WI. She was born at home on Schaller Road, outside of Paoli, to her parents, Jacob and Lillian (Ellefs) Schaller.

Green County Libraries Launch 'My Library My Place' Campaign

If you haven’t been to your public library in a few years, then you haven’t been to the public library!
A lot has changed at public libraries in Green County, and the libraries are working hard every day to meet the wants and needs of the residents they serve. Libraries are also working together to increase awareness of the many resources and services available through a new public awareness campaign called “My Library My Place.”

American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program

High School students in New Glarus are invited to compete in the Annual American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program. The invitation to enter the competition was extended by Post #141 and Green County Council Americanism Chair, David Henning.
The High School Oratorical scholarship Program has the full cooperation of Wisconsin school officials. The New Glarus contest will be conducted at the Veterans Memorial Hall on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Orientation for contestants will begin at 12:30 p.m.

It's Prime Time for Scam Shipping Emails

Online gift shopping during the holiday season opens up the market to scammers using fake shipping emails to spread malware or gather personal or banking information. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) warns consumers to be on the lookout for these fake emails and to avoid clicking links or opening attachments in these messages.
