New Glarus Good Friday Blood Drive

Dear Editor,
The annual New Glarus Good Friday Red Cross Blood Drive is coming up on March 25th. The annual drive will be held at the New Glarus Bible Church, located at 207 6th Street, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and is sponsored, staffed, and coordinated by Shepherd of the Hills Church and its Stewardship & Shepherding Committee.

Barnaby's Monticello House Closes

Last weekend, Barnaby’s Monticello House temporarily closed its doors. According to owner Marc Barnaby, the Monticello House will reopen at a later date; however it will no longer be associated with Gabriella’s. Barnaby said he would like to thank everyone who supported the business and is looking forward to the future.

Youth Wrestlers Head to State

On Saturday, March 19, 14 youth Raider wrestlers took to the mats in two different qualifier locations. One was in Oregon and the other in Sauk Prairie. 
The Raiders crowned two champions in Trei Udelhoven at 63# and Garrett Pauli at 120#.  Both were in the 2007-2008 age group. 
Bringing home 2nd place were Zecheriah Bair at 48# and Blake Endres at 54#, who were both 2007-08 division. Joe Quaglia also came home with 2nd place, at 76# in the 2003-2004 age group. Way to go boys!

Conservation Stewardship Program Offers Payments to Help Improve Working Lands

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is accepting new applications and renewal applications for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP). NRCS accepts applications for CSP throughout the year, but producers should submit applications by March 31, 2016, to USDA Service Centers to ensure they are considered for enrollment in 2016.

Senior Fun Fest

The Senior Fun Fest will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at the Monroe High School.
This annual FREE event is a fun morning of special activities, including a keynote speaker, interactive booths, paint your own canvas, music, wellness screenings, and numerous door prizes.

The Green County Master Gardeners will be holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m., at the Green County Justice Center in the Multi-Purpose Rooms. Meetings usually include speakers or tours for learning and are open to the public to attend.

New Headlight Law Takes Effect

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed a bill that requires drivers to turn their headlights on when weather conditions limit visibility into law on Monday, February 29, 2016.
The language, added by statute, defines the type of weather conditions: 340.01 (43d) “Period of limited visibility” means any time that weather conditions limit visibility such that objects on a highway are not clearly discernible at 500 feet from the front of a vehicle.

Sugar River Raider Youth Wrestlers Advance to Regionals

Eight Sugar River Raider youth wrestlers went to Cambridge on Saturday, crowning four champions, three runner ups, and a 3rd place!  Nice job boys. 
Here are their individual match result stats:  Zecheriah Bair, 1st, 3-0-0; Cayson Helwig, 2nd, 2-1-0; Blake Endres, 1st, 3-0-3; Aiden Hatleberg, 2nd, 2-1-1; Lincoln Bair, 2nd, 2-1-2; Avery Lettman, 1st, 3-0-2; Joe Quaglia, 1st, 2-0-0; Lucas Fink, 3rd, 1-2-0.
On Sunday, the 13th, four Raider youth wrestlers ventured to Rio for their annual tourney. They came home with two champions, a 3rd, and a 5th place.
