American Diabetes Association Alert Day

According to the CDC, almost 29.1 million people in the United States have diabetes, or 9.3% of the population!  While an estimated 21 million have been diagnosed, unfortunately, 86 million have pre-diabetes. The estimated total of direct and indirect costs for this disease is 245 billion dollars.

Boudin Dinner

Join in a French tradition on Sunday, March 5th, at J&M Bar in Belleville for a Boudin Dinner from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
What is Boudin? Boudin is one of most unique, tasty and distinctly uncorrupted regional specialties in America.  Basically, Boudin is a combination of cabbage, onions, cracklins, milk, flour, pork blood, salt, pepper and summer savory, or senti bon, which means “smells good” in colloquial French.  Each recipe is slightly different. The mixture is pulverized to some degree in a meat grinder before being stuffed into a sausage casing.

Winter Retro Bingo

Bingo - cash prizes given!  The more who play, the higher the amounts given.
Retro Bingo will be played at the Duppler-Smith Post #460 American Legion, 2 W. Pearl Street, Belleville. The doors will open at Noon on Sunday, February 26, 2017, and Bingo starts at 1:00 p.m.
Sandwiches, desserts, and drinks offered, please no carry in allowed. Playing time will be approximately 2 1/2 hours. Come and have some fun!!

Child Development Days

The School District of Belleville’s Child Development Days is scheduled for Monday, February 27, 2017, 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. for 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 year olds, and Tuesday, February 28, 2017, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., for 3 1/2 - 4 year olds. 
Children who turn 4 years old on or before September 1, 2017, will also sign-up for 4K (4 year old kindergarten) during Child Development Days.  Parents are asked to bring proof of residency (utility bill, lease, mortgage, etc.) and show the child’s birth certificate to verify their age at Child Development Days.

ANNA E. KLASSY

Anna E. Klassy, age 97 of Belleville, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Heartsong Assisted Living in Belleville. She was born on May 7, 1919, to her parents, Henry and Marie (Embaumgarten) Klassy, on the farm that she worked and called home most of her life.
Anna was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville.
Anna is survived by her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Henry P. Klassy; and a sister, Marie Bergen.

DOROTHY H. ETHERIDGE

Dorothy Helen Etheridge, age 99 of Reedsburg, and a former Paoli area resident, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017, at the Casa de Oakes in Reedsburg. She was born on February 7, 1918, in the Town of Fitchburg to her parents, Fred and Louise (Warner) Haack.
On October 12, 1937, she was united in marriage to Homer Etheridge at Dubuque, IA. Dorothy and Homer farmed in the Paoli area for many years and they loved to play cards and dance together. She was a member of the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Paoli.

<strong>Taylor Wallom</strong>, Belleville; <strong>Taylor Johnson</strong>, New Glarus; and <strong>Justine Romich</strong>, New Glarus; were named to the Dean’s List at Carroll University for the fall 2016 semester. To be named to the Dean’s List, students must have a grade point average for the semester of at least 3.5 on a 4-point scale.
