Financial Assistance to Heat Your Home is Available

We recognize that the financial impact of energy bills during the heating season places an additional burden on families with limited incomes, which is why we’ve donated $1 million to our Hometown Care Energy Fund in Wisconsin. This fund, administered through local assistance agencies, provides financial help for heating costs to income-eligible customers across our service area. During the last heating season, Hometown Care dollars helped roughly 2,600 Wisconsin households with their energy costs.

<strong>Upper Iowa University Announces 2016 Fall Dean’s List</strong>
Upper Iowa University announces the Dean’s List for the 2016 Fall semester. To be honored, a student must have earned a minimum 3.50 grade point average for the semester and be enrolled as a full-time student. The honored students included: <strong>Courtney Darrow</strong>, Human Services major, New Glarus, and<strong> Lynn Egan</strong>, Financial Management major, Monticello.

Public School Open Enrollment Application Period Begins in February

Public school open enrollment, Wisconsin’s public school choice program, continues its steady growth since it began in the 1998-99 school year with a new application period beginning February 6 and running through April 28 for the 2017-18 school year.
Traditionally, children in Wisconsin are assigned to public school districts based on the location of their parents’ home. Open enrollment is a tuition-free opportunity for parents to apply for their children to attend a public school in a school district other than the one in which they live.

Eagles Spotted Around the Area

According to the WI DNR, the cold winter months of December through February are good times to find and watch Bald Eagles in Wisconsin.
The Eagles pictured were spotted near Monticello last weekend.
