Wisconsin Awarded Nearly $10 Million for Early Childhood Efforts

Governor Tony Evers has announced that Wisconsin has been awarded $10 million through the Preschool Development Birth to Five Grant (PDG B-5) to strengthen the state’s early childhood system. The grant focuses on addressing pervasive challenges around equity, access, quality, and affordability in early care and education.

Extension Green County Presents: Dairy Management Seminar

The Green County Milk Quality Council, in cooperation with Extension Green County, will be sponsoring its 30th Annual Green County Dairy Management Seminar on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. The seminar will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and will be held at the Green County Justice Center, Multi-Purpose Rooms, 2841 6th Street, Monroe.

Cheesemakers Winning Streak Continues

The Monroe Cheesemakers co-op hockey team continued their winning streak on December 23rd with an 8-0 shutout win against Madison La Follette.
The Cheesemakers scored early and often with three goals in the first period, made by Hayden Roth assisted by Cade Janecke, Jared Dillon and Payton Stauffacher assisted by Cooper Dreyfus.
In the second period goals were scored by Stauffacher assisted by Janecke and Sam Pecoraro assisted by Logan Roth and Aiden Grey.

New Glarus Area EMS Seeking Community Advisory Board Members

Looking to get involved in your community? New Glarus Area Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is seeking interested parties to sit on the EMS Executive Board as Community Advisory Board Members.
Applicants must reside within the area we serve. Those municipalities are: Village of New Glarus, Town of New Glarus, portions of the Townships of Primrose, York, Mt. Pleasant, Perry, and Exeter.

Second Street Mural

Albion Swords and the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to brighten 2nd Street! In the spring of 2020, the east wall of the Albion Swords building, at 421 2nd Street, where the New Glarus Foods logo is currently located, will be painted with a colorful mural to enliven the street and increase visitor foot traffic.

Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

Annual elections for the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Executive Committee will be held in late January. Any active members of the Chamber of Commerce who would be interested in serving on the board may nominate themselves by emailing info@swisstown.com before January 15, 2020.

Alvin Ott Scholarship Presented

Jaden Kreklow, Milo Hoesly and Emily Streiff, 2019 graduates of New Glarus High School, each received a check for $1,000 from the Alvin Ott Scholarship Fund. Jaden is attending University of Wisconsin-Platteville, studying in Engineering. Milo is attending Colorado School of Mines, studying in Mechanical Engineering. Emily is attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), studying in Civil Engineering.
