Now is not a good time to pick out a Christmas tree. There are too many yellow leaves. Evergreen trees, like deciduous trees, lose their leaves, except evergreens drop some of their older leaves and retain the younger ones for a year or longer.

Road Rally 2015 Update

Join in the fun!! Meet the rest of the drivers at ‘The Station’ on River Street for an 8 o’clock send off on Saturday, Nov. 7!! We need you NOT to park there prior to 7:00 a.m. We will have a registration table.
Be prepared to have a name for your team upon registering. Also, there is a spot on your sheet when Barb hands it to you to include all the names of the lovely people you brought with you! It helps us remember who was there and for counting purposes.

October is National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month

At one point or another, we’ve all used prescription drugs or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines to alleviate an illness — whether it’s to relieve pain or curb a cough.
Unfortunately, too many teens are abusing these drugs for a quick high. In response to our country’s medicine abuse epidemic, the Belleville Area Cares Coalition is promoting National Medicine Abuse Awareness Month.
Nationally, prescription drugs are the second most abused category of drugs after marijuana, with one in five young adults reporting that they have abused a prescription drug.

Building Engineering and Technical Education Strong Focus at Belleville School District

Through communication with our families, we learned that they want to see the School District of Belleville put a stronger emphasis on engineering and the trades, and we listened.
As many of you know, the high school became a STEM school this year. Our Project Lead the Way instructor, Ed Neumann, has a vision for the program and has already put us on a path to success.
Mr. Neumann teaches in a way that allows students to discover, engage, and achieve in the trades.

Join 4-H: Character Grows Here

Creativity, Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, Compassion, Resilience, Teamwork…these all valuable character and life skills that 4-H grows in youth. Join a local 4-H club and grow with us!
4-H is open to all youth in 5-year-old kindergarten (5K) thru high school, whether youth live in the city, village or county. No matter what a youth’s gender, race, ethnicity, creed or ability, 4-H offers the opportunity to have fun, learn new things, meet others, and be active in community service. Interested in joining?

Blackhawk to Host Tech Exploration Days

A Manufacturing Showcase at Blackhawk Technical College’s Advanced Manufacturing Training Center in Milton highlights BTC’s week-long Tech Exploration Days events, which provide prospective students with a detailed view of the school’s variety of academic programs.
The Manufacturing Showcase will begin at 9:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 17, at BTC’s new facility, which now houses its Advanced Manufacturing programs.

Doris Mae Miller lost her fight to live on October 4, 2015, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 10, 1928, to Marie Gerber and Luman Brennum at Dodgeville, WI.
