Holiday Bazaar to be Held December 12

The Sugar River Senior Center has rescheduled their Annual Holiday Bazaar to take place on Saturday, December 12, 2015, from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., at the Sugar River Senior Center, 21 S. Vine Street.
Local Crafters and Vendors will be there, with all kinds of items perfect to complete (or begin) your holiday shopping!
There will also be great food - Famous BBQ and Homemade Vegetable Beef Soup!
And don’t forget to enter the Quilt Raffle and Basket Raffle.

The Monticello Lions Club installed their new officers at their meeting on November 19th.  President is Lion Kevin Pratt, 1st Vice President is Lion Dan Roe, Secretary is Lion Michael Davis, Treasurer is Lion Nancy Elmer, 2nd Vice President is Lion Bryan Studer, Membership Chair is Lion Jim Marty, 1st yr Directors are Dean Havens and Brian Pence, 2nd yr Directors are Linn Lederman and Lion Jim Faith, Tail Twister is Lion Sam Powell.

Southwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission Launches Comprehensive Plan Process for the Village Of Monticello

Southwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SWWRPC) is working with the Village of Monticello to update their 2005 Comprehensive Plan. The update to the 2005 Comprehensive Plan will provide the Village of Monticello with a single vision to unite decision-making and coordinate city resources and services through 2025. This process is supported by the valuable efforts of the Village of Monticello, Green County Development Corporation (GCDC), and University of Wisconsin Extension (UW-Extension).

Santa Claus to Visit Monticello

Everyone get their lists ready for Santa Claus, he will be at the Monticello Fire Station on Saturday, December 12, 2015, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Treats will be served.
There will be a collection box for Monticello Empty Stocking for food, new toys and new mittens and gloves.

Delivering Thanksgiving Meals

We are very thankful for Taher, Inc., Monticello's Food Service provider, for supplying selected families with complete Thanksgiving meals! On Tuesday, November 24, National Honor Society members Dezmond Hanenberger, Marissa Peterson and Emilie Gietzel, assisted by Monticello Police Officer Szvon Conway, delivered meals to families in Monticello. Thank you to everyone involved in helping to make the holidays a little brighter for these families!

Devon James Steel passed away in the loving arms of his mother and father on October 30, 2015. He was born May 21, 2015, at Birmingham Women's Hospital in Birmingham, England, to Luke and Jaclyn (Schneider) Steel.

Quilts of Valor

Veterans at the New Glarus Home and Campus will be awarded a Quilt of Valor on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at 9:30 a.m., for their military service at the New Glarus Home MPR/Chapel. The original Veterans Day event had to be cancelled because of visitor restrictions at the Home due to a flu outbreak.
Each veteran will individually be honored with a Quilt of Valor in conjunction with the annual Veterans Day Ceremony conducted by the Stuessy-Kuenzi American Legion Post #141.

Piano Play-A-Thon On December 5th

The Green County Piano Teachers will be sponsoring a Piano Play-A-Thon on Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at ShopKo in Monroe.
This event will feature 130 students from the Green County area playing a variety of holiday music. The students are collecting pledges for this event and the money raised will be donated to the MAC Children's Art Gallery, Green County libraries and the 2016 Green County Ensemble Recital.
The teachers participating are Rita Farris, Carolyn Hilliard, Dawn Jordan, Gwen Shaker, Mary Soddy, Ann Uresk and Julie Zimmerman.
