Local Master Gardener Symposium to be held March 12

The Green County Master Gardeners Association (GCMGA) is excited to present their 9th Annual Gardening Symposium. “Garden Inspirations for All Seasons –Tasteful Gardening for Style and Fun” will be held on Saturday, March 12th, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Peppercorn Banquets at the Ludlow Mansion, 1421 Mansion Drive, Monroe. Both experienced and novice gardeners are encouraged to attend this public seminar. Participants will receive lunch, refreshments and resource materials with their paid registration.

United Way Funding Applications Available for 2017

During 2016, the United Way will provide over $250,000.00 in funding to assist local programs that are focused to address the most critical needs of families and individuals throughout Green County. This funding is made possible through generous contributions to the annual United Way Campaign.
Applications are currently being accepted by the United Way of Green County, Inc. for program funding in 2017.

Belleville Man Faces Charges

Dustin B. Winkers, 26, Belleville, was charged Monday in Dane County with child enticement and sexual assault of a child under 16. The criminal complaint alleges that Winkers met, gave alcohol to, and then sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl that he met on Facebook.
The complaint states that he met the girl in October of 2014, when she was 14. The girl told Department of Justice agents that she told Winkers that she was 14 before they met in person.

Support Monticello Music Program - Eat Pizza!

March is Music in Our Schools month and once again the Music Parents have teamed up with Gempeler's Supermarket to help raise money for the music students.
Gempeler's Supermarket in Monticello is donating $5.00 for every large pizza purchased all day on Tuesday, March 1st, to the Monticello Music Parents. This organization helps support the music program at the Monticello Schools.
It's the perfect opportunity to enjoy great pizza and support the Monticello Music Parents!

The annual Gift of Community and Student Asset Award events were held in New Glarus recently. The Gift of Community Event was held on February 20 and the Student Asset Awards were held on February 22. The events recognize students and community members for their time and effort in volunteering.

Belleville Class of 2011: A Group to Remember - Part 2

Every now and then, one has the opportunity to watch a group of kids perform at a high level and maintain excellent academic standing. When you are watching, you seldom realize what a treat it is to do so and for so many of them in the same grade.
Such was the case for the Belleville High School Class of 2011. Why is this class so unique so as to be highlighted here? Simple: They have come to exemplify the “STUDENT/Athlete” even into their college life.

Fastpitch softball sign up for girls in grades 2nd through 8th will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m., in the High School Commons. Registration costs are $60.00 for all players (maximum of $120 per family). Scholarships may be available upon request.
