New Glarus Police Department - A Note From the Chief

Currently the Police Department and the School District are aware of the ongoing daily traffic back up that occurs at approximately 3:15 p.m., going southbound on Second Street between the High/Middle School and the Elementary School. Unfortunately, there is not any current cost-effective solution for alleviating the problem.

Polka For the Swiss Fundraiser

On Sunday, April 17th, a fundraiser for the Swiss Center of North America was held at the New Glarus Hotel.
There was entertainment by the Zweifel Brothers, and heritage music provided by the New Glarus Maennerchor and the Green County Alphorns.
A Silent Auction with more than 50 baskets was a big hit with visitors.

New Glarus High School Looking for Volunteer Opportunities

New Glarus High School will be giving back to the community by volunteering to help community members on the morning of Monday, May 9th. New Glarus High School is looking to help senior citizens, businesses or other community members who are in need of some volunteer help.

2016 Post Prom Information

This year we are planning a Post Prom trip to Knuckleheads in Wisconsin Dells. The Post Prom Party will begin at 11:30 p.m., loading the buses for the trip and returning to New Glarus and be finished at 6:30 a.m., following Prom on May 7th.
Students that are interested should sign-up in the High School office. Prizes include choice of an iPad, laptop computer, flatscreen tv and many other wonderful prizes.

Highland Cemetery Clean Up in Monticello

All decorations, flowers, shepherd hooks and urns must be removed from the cemetery during the clean up period from May 1st through May 15th. Individuals wishing to retain specific items must remove them prior to the May 1st start of the clean up.

Construction Update

The tie-ins are finished along North Monroe Street, south of West Coates Avenue. Crews worked on the tie-ins on West Coates and in the alley behind Gempeler's in the beginning of the week, and will be moving to the north end of North Monroe Street mid-week.
With everything moving so quickly, the street crews should be here within the next week to put grade down and West Coates Avenue is expected to be passable by the time you read this.

High School FCCLA Presents Donation to Green Cares

Monticello High School FCCLA officers presented a check in the amount of $200 to Mary Gafner for Green Cares Food Pantry.  This donation represents the profit of their t-shirt sale held during the basketball season.  Thanks to everyone who purchased a t-shirt, which made this donation possible.

Middle School FCCLA Presents Donation to Green Cares

The Monticello Middle School FCCLA contributed $160 to Green Cares Food Pantry from the profits of their coin war among the 6th, 7th and 8th grade classes.  The 8th graders won the war and enjoyed an ice cream sundae party, compliments of the FCCLA chapter.

Monticello Comprehensive Plan Update

The final Community Input Forum will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Monticello High School (in the Library), 334 South Main St., Monticello, WI, for the ten-year Monticello Comprehensive Plan. During the forum, participants will lend their experience, expertise and innovative ideas to shape the future of Monticello.
