On Monday, December 11th, New Glarus High School hosted its first annual Sportsmanship Summit.  The purpose of the summit was to promote leadership, as well as school spirit and sportsmanship.  The summit lasted two hours and students listened to presentations from administrators, and a WIAA official.  In addition, students were given time to brainstorm their definition of sportsmanship as well as ways to increase positive support of our sports teams. 

The 2018 Monticello Sports Boosters Alumni Tournament will take place on Saturday, January 6, 2018, and begins at 10:00 a.m. in the Monticello Schools gyms. The entry fee is $75 per team, which guarantees you two games. A concession stand will be available. <strong>The deadline to enter is Saturday, December 30, 2017.

More than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s Disease and experts expect that number to triple by 2050. And veterans face a higher risk than the general population.   
Faced with these challenges, UW and the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital have started a study to evaluate whether fish oil favorably alters early brain changes associated with Alzheimer’s by improving blood flow to the brain.  The research will be done in veterans with a family history of Alzheimer’s Disease.

In a joint effort between Blackhawk Technical College (BTC) and the Southwest Wisconsin Workforce Development Board (SWWDB), with support from sponsoring employers including Bell Laboratories, Miniature Precision Components, Pratt Industries, Scot Forge, Seneca Foods Corp. and Emmi Roth USA, Inc., a new Mechatronics Apprenticeship has been created as part of BTC’s academic offerings starting in January, 2018.
