Fall Car Cruise Canceled

With the current global pandemic of COVID-19, it is with sadness that the organizers of the TJ Disch memorial fall car cruise have decided that this year’s cruise will be CANCELED. Organizers said on their Facebook page that they could not come up with a way to protect everyone’s health and safety and still host the cruise. They added that they would like to thank all the people and businesses who have supported us in years past and look forward to your support in years to come!

The Belleville Community Blood Drive will be held at St. Mary of Lourdes, 221 Frederick Street, on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, from 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. The blood drive is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club and the Econo-mizers.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Traffic Campaign

The New Glarus and Belleville Police Departments will be out with other law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin and the rest of the nation for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown on drunken drivers from August 21st through Labor Day.

LEON J. URBEN

Leon J. Urben, 93, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020. Fiercely independent, he lived in his own home in Huntley, IL, until only his final days. He was born August 21, 1926, in New Glarus, WI, the son of Jacob S. and Ottillie K. (Stuessy) Urben.

SHELDON W. STEINER

Sheldon W. Steiner, age 80 of Monroe, died Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on March 5, 1940, on the family farm in Belleville, Primrose Township, the son of Wilbert and Marie (Kubly) Steiner.
He graduated from Belleville High School. Sheldon married Diane Dorothy Davis on May 28, 1960; she preceded him in death on December 8, 2002. He worked at Harlan Sprague Dowley in Madison for over 30 years until his retirement to take care of Diane.

Susan Sam, age 66, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, due to complications from an aneurysm. She was born on March 6, 1954, in La Crosse, WI.
On her 22nd birthday, March 6, 1976, she was united in marriage to Gary Sam at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Monona, WI.

Ileen (Peterson) Hollis, age 81 of Verona, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison. She was born on May 12, 1939, the daughter of Melvin and Mava (Waldron) Peterson.
