New Glarus High School Has Two National Merit Scholar Semifinalists

Two New Glarus High School seniors have qualified as Semifinalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. Those two students are Ben Copeland and Merrick Fong.
Students are initially selected based off of their Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which serves as the initial screen of program entrants. Approximately 1.6 million juniors were eligible and both students ranked in the top 50,000 of the highest scoring participants.

New Glarus Police Department Has Moved Temporarily

With the renovation of the New Glarus Police Department offices, the Police Department has temporarily been relocated to the Community Room, which is on the west side of the Village Hall/Library. The Police Department can be accessed off of 4th Avenue from the municipal parking lot between the Village Hall and the New Glarus Fire Department.

Monticello Public Library Board Statement Regarding Library Services

The Monticello Public Library stands strong with our communities during this time of need. The Library Board understands the hard decisions all of us are facing each day and are taking active steps of their own to evaluate library services throughout the pandemic. Each monthly meeting the Library Board reviews their Condition-Based Timeline for adjusting library services.
This timeline includes five conditions to help guide the Library Board in their decisions:
A sustained reduction in new COVID-19 cases within the community for at least 14 days.

Roe Named to Wisconsin Agriculture Youth Council

Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Secretary-designee Randy Romanski has announced the 15 members of the Wisconsin Agriculture Youth Council. These members will serve a one-year term, receiving a certificate of completion at the end of their service.

Outdoor Movie Nights in Monticello

The Monticello Public Library is excited to present several more Outdoor Movie Night events on Saturday, September 19th, Wednesday, September 30th, Saturday, October 17th, and Wednesday, October 28th, in the parking lot of Zwingli United Church of Christ. The parking lot opens at 7:00 p.m., and the movie will begin at 8:00 p.m. Zwingli Church is located at 416 E. Lake Avenue, right next to the library. Drive or walk in to watch the film. You can bring your own seat if you wish.

Belleville Community Blood Drive

The Belleville Community Blood Drive will be held at St. Mary of Lourdes, 221 Frederick Street, on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, from 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. The blood drive is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club and the Econo-mizers.

Three Belleville High School Students National Merit Scholar Semifinalists

Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation have announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. For the first time in school history, Belleville High School has three finalists.
We would like to congratulate Jacob Kean, Elise Medenwald, and Jackson Nolden.

Save Our Health Care

Dear Editor,
Just as we are seeing a bump in our COVID cases in Wisconsin, the White House and the Wisconsin Statehouse continue to focus on repealing the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. With nothing to replace it, around 20 million Americans nationwide could lose access to affordable health care when they need it most.

Wisconsin Women in Aviation International Chapters to Host Virtual Girls in Aviation Day

The three Wisconsin chapters of Women in Aviation International have teamed up for a one of a kind interactive virtual event to ensure girls in Wisconsin have access to explore the world of aviation even in a year when in-person events are unable to take place. In lieu of individual in-person events on September 26, 2020, the three chapters will host a free interactive virtual event open to all girls in Wisconsin between the ages of 8 and 17.

Discover 4-H This Fall!

With the beginning of a new school year comes the beginning of a new 4-H year, and this year, Green County 4-H is making it easier than ever for families to experience the fun of 4-H. Through the Discover 4-H program, families with children in Kindergarten through 5th grade can join a virtual 4-H club which will meet once a week for six weeks on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., from October 8 through November 12. Each club meeting, held via Zoom, will last about 30-60 minutes and will include a hands-on project activity that will be led by a local 4-H Educator.
