Albany Teen Charged With Homicide

On the afternoon of January 12, 2021, the Wisconsin Department of Justice issued a press release with an update regarding the death of an infant in Albany earlier this month.
Logan T. Kruckenberg Anderson, 16, Albany, was arrested on January 10, 2021, on charges of First Degree Intentional Homicide and Hiding a Corpse. Kruckenberg Anderson is being charged as an adult and both charges carry Felony modifiers. Kruckenberg Anderson is currently being held at the Rock County Juvenile Detention Center on a $1 million dollar cash bond.

Adults 65 and Older Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine Beginning January 25

On January 19, 2021, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) announced that adults over the age of 65 will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine beginning January 25th. Currently, frontline health care workers, residents in long term care facilities (nursing homes and assisted living facilities), and police and fire personnel are eligible. There are approximately 700,000 Wisconsinites who are 65 and older and Wisconsin currently receives around 70,000 first-dose vaccines per week from the federal government. It will take time to vaccinate this population in Wisconsin.

4-H Cloverbud Kits Offer Flexibility for Families

Looking for a way to keep your Kindergartener, 1st grader or 2nd grader occupied, engaged and entertained this winter? The Green County 4-H Cloverbud Committee has planned a 3-activity Cloverbud kit for youth in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Activities will include Friendship Rocks, Fruit Batteries and Wind Pin Wheels.

Wisconsin FoodShare Update

Wisconsin households that receive FoodShare will now receive added benefits to help them access food during the COVID-19 pandemic. This temporary increase will begin this month and last until June 2021. It was part of the federal COVID-19 stimulus package signed into law in December 2020. FoodShare households will be able to use these benefits for in-person and online purchasing.

Lady Knights Win Over WI Heights But Lose to Marshall

On January 12th, the New Glarus Lady Knights hosted the Lady Vanguards of Wisconsin Heights. New Glarus had a 41-17 halftime lead and went on to win the game. The final score was New Glarus 70, Wisconsin Heights 35.
“I thought we showed great patience in our half-court offense,” said Coach Kevin Parman. “I would like to see more movement, but we were able to get good shots and convert! Another great team win with everyone getting minutes and valuable experience.”

Knights Win Over Dodgeville, Waterloo, and Poynette

On Monday, January 11th, the New Glarus Knights boys basketball team hosted Dodgeville. The Knights held a 10-point lead at the half and went on to win the game. The final score was New Glarus 63, Dodgeville 48.
Leading New Glarus in scoring with 18 points was Mason Martinson, while Dain Walter scored 15 points and Carter Siegenthaler scored 11 points.

Belleville Girls Basketball Wins Second Conference Game in a Row

On Friday, January 15th, the Belleville girls basketball team traveled to Waterloo to take on the Pirates. The Wildcats started the game very shaky and saw themselves get behind by 7 points to start the game and went into the locker room trailing 33-24 at the half.

Lady Ponies Beat Pecatonica and Juda

The Monticello Lady Ponies hosted the Pecatonica Lady Vikings on Tuesday, January 12th. The Ponies held a 9-point lead at the halftime break. Monticello was outscored in the second half by a determined Pecatonica team, but managed to hold on for the win. The final score was Monticello 43, Pecatonica 39.
Ellie Gustafson scored 18 points to lead Monticello, and had 8 rebounds, 7 steals and 1 block. Harley Disch scored 8 points with 1 rebounds and 4 assists, and Mackie Errthum scored 7 points and had 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 5 steals and 5 blocks.

Ponies Win Over Wildcats and Vikings

On Monday, January 11th, the Monticello Ponies hosted the Belleville Wildcats. The Ponies held a slim 2-point lead at halftime, and outscored the Wildcats in the second half to win the evenly matched game. The final score was Monticello 65, Belleville 54.
