Blends & Friends Café Invites Local Veterans to Veterans Cafe

The Aging & Disability Resource Center is pleased to announce that a monthly Veterans Café will be held the first Wednesday of every month at Blends & Friends Café, inside the Behring Senior Center, starting on February 3rd.
Veterans are welcome to come meet others from the area, socialize, and enjoy breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Free coffee will be available for veterans; breakfast will be provided by the Green County Nutrition Program and served on a donation basis for those age 60+.

Monticello Comprehensive Plan Update: Have your voice heard!

A Community Input Forum will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Gabriella’s Restaurant, 149 N. Main St. Monticello, for the ten-year Monticello Comprehensive Plan. This meeting’s activities will focus on Infrastructure, including Housing, Transportation, Waste Management, Utilities and Public Safety.

Apprentice Challenge Champions

Marquel Hawthorn and Kaleb Shulka were crowned winners of the recently completed Apprentice Challenge. The Challenge is a part of the Intro to Business class offered at Monticello High School. Groups of students each receive $20.00 starter cash and are challenged to make as big a profit as possible while creating and executing a business plan for their business. The winner, Washington St. Sweets, had a nearly a 200% return on their initial investment. All teams involved were successful and should be congratulated!

Monticello M.S. FCCLA Senior Citizen Meal

The Monticello Middle School FCCLA will be hosting their annual senior citizen meal on Tuesday, February 16th. The meal will be held in the FCS room from 5:00 p.m.-5:45 p.m. This year we are serving soup. Each member of the Middle School FCCLA will bring a side dish or dessert to contribute to the meal.

Saturday Night is Trivia Night!

Friends of the New Glarus Public Library Fourth Annual Trivia Night is Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., at Barnaby’s Monticello House, 149 N. Main Street, Monticello. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
The Flying Zupan Brothers will test your trivia knowledge, including one round of questions from the movie <i>The Wizard of Oz</i>. There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

Several ladies enjoyed Linda Schiesser's Scherenschnitte class at the Swiss Center of North America on January 23rd. Optimist Club Meeting

The New Glarus Area Optimist Club will be meeting at the Chalet Landhaus on Wednesday, February 17th, at 6:30 p.m.
This month the speaker will be Kurt Schaefer from UB&T in New Glarus. Kurt will be speaking about “Your Finances and You in 2016.” This presentation is open to the public.
