With the snow disappearing, the temperature warming, and summer not far away, the Village of New Glarus is opening registration for the 2016 Summer Pool and Recreation programs. This summer, the Parks and Recreation Department is offering numerous, exciting activities for the community of New Glarus. We have a variety of choices for all ages (youth and adult), including baseball, kickball, bicycling, swimming lessons, and many more.

New Glarus Middle School RoboKnights team, Recycle Rampage, competed at the state competition for the FIRST Lego League (FLL) on February 21st, and took First Place for Best Presentation among the 36 top teams competing from hundreds that participated statewide. The team advanced from Sectionals and Regionals where they won the prestigious Champions Award. The judges cited several strengths of the team, including their research, inspiration, gracious professionalism and their robot design.

A film crew from EdTech magazine was in Monticello recently to report on their telepresence system and the relationship and collaboration they have with JAM (Juda-Albany-Monticello). Through grants from the Wisconsin Technology Initiative, Monticello has grown a network of schools that pool resources to share classes and enable students to select from an ever-widening range of courses. The telepresence system also allows students to take virtual field trips and is used by staff for professional development.

Monticello High School students will be performing <i>Snoopy!!! </i>The Musical on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., in the Rehmstedt Gym.
Ticket prices are $8.00 for the general public, $7.00 if purchased in advance from the school office, and $5.00 for children, students and seniors.
