Dear Editor,
I did attend the special meeting of the Village of New Glarus pertaining to the proposed softball field at Veterans Park. What did I learn? Chris Rear, who is in charge of summer recreation programs for New Glarus Recreation, on ball fields was asked, “Is one baseball field and one softball field adequate for New Glarus?” His response was we will do the best we can with what we have. We should have one baseball field and two softball fields, but three would be better.

On Saturday, June 24, 2017, hundreds of Green County residents will join together at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Green County to help save more lives from cancer and to celebrate this year’s theme “Color Your World Without Cancer”. The event will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., at the Brodhead High School track in Brodhead, WI. The entire community is invited to attend the event and celebrate with people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all.

On April 30, 1944, a stunning young Wisconsin couple, Rose and Duane Beach, got married. The date wasn't coincidence, but rather a way to honor Rose's parents, Emma and Alfred Glanzmann, who married the same day in 1917. So when Rose's granddaughter, Jessica Bohms, and her fiancé, Samuel Partington, started planning their wedding, they already knew the date.
