Monticello Comprehensive Plan Update: Have Your Voice Heard!

A Community Input Forum will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Gabriella’s Restaurant, 149 N. Main St. Monticello, WI, for the ten-year Monticello Comprehensive Plan. This forum’s activities will focus on Community Resources, including Natural and Agricultural Resources, Parks and Recreation, Education, and Culture and Creativity.

Monticello Lions Club Welcomes New Members

The Monticello Lions Club welcomed three new members recently.  Jacob Marty and John Blumer were sponsored by Jim Marty.  Parker Havens was sponsored by Dean Havens. These new members were installed by District Governor Dick Schwedrsky.
The Lions Club is currently planning for the annual Fisheree that will be held on January 31, 2016. This is co-sponsored by the Green County Conservation League. Come and test your fishing skills.  There will also be a raffle drawing and ^Tennis Ball^" golf."

Learn Scherenschnitte at the Swiss Center of North America

Linda Schiesser of New Glarus, WI, will introduce the art of Scherenschnitte, or scissor cutting, at a workshop at the Swiss Center of North America on Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The Swiss Center of North America is located at 507 Durst Road, New Glarus.

LINDA LIMMEX

Ms. Linda Limmex, age 64 of Waunakee, WI, passed away in her home on January 8th. Linda was born on December 13, 1951, the eldest child of Raymond and Joan (Marx) Zweifel.
She graduated from Belleville High School, class of 1970. Linda worked for St. Mary's Hospital in Madison as a Unit Secretary for over 30 years.

Janette Rose Streiff, age 83 of New Glarus, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc. in Fitchburg. She was born on January 19, 1932, in Monroe, WI, to her parents, Henry and Phyllis (Freitag) Pauli.

Belleville 4th Graders Win Tournament

The Belleville 4th grade boys basketball team won their tournament in Belleville on January 9th.  They beat New Glarus, 30-29, in the final game to take 1st place.  The team is coached by TJ Smith and Chad Schlueter.

Monticello Community Club to hold 18th Annual Chickaree

The Chickaree is an event that Monticello Community Club started in conjunction with the Lion’s Fisheree.
The Community Club will be grilling chickens again this year. Half chickens will be sold at $6.00 (not a complete dinner…just chicken). These chickens are the same chicken that is cooked at Homecoming; however, opinion has it, they’re even better tasting!
