Belleville Stomps Brodhead/Juda

The Belleville Wildcats baseball team played a game at Brodhead/Juda on May 21st.
The Wildcats won, 15-3. Belleville took an early 4-0 lead by the top of the 3rd and while Brodhead/Juda scored two runs in the bottom of that inning, the Wildcats ran eight players over home plate in the 4th and three in the 5th to win the game.

Monticello Track Team Sends One to State

On May 21st, the Monticello track team participated in the WIAA D3 Regional at Cuba City. The boys and girls both placed 9th.

Broadband Expansion Grant Brings High Speed Internet to Rural Green County

Parts of Green County lacking adequate internet service will be getting broadband as part of a $414,000 grant from the Public Service Commission to the Green County Development Corporation. 
With pledged matching funds of more than $631,000, the Broadband Expansion Project will total more than $1 million to increase access to high speed internet in Green County.

Belleville and New Glarus Police Departments to Sponsor Police Citizens Academy

The dates have been set for the upcoming Police Citizens Academy, sponsored by the Belleville and New Glarus Police Departments.  There are a couple of openings.  If you are interested in knowing more about the ins and outs of police work, want to experience the training officers go through, or are curious about all that CSI stuff you see on TV, you would probably enjoy attending this Academy.  Participants will have opportunities to fire weapons, drive emergency vehicles, and collect evidence.  K-9 searches, field sobriety testing, and arrest tactics will be demonstrated.

Jazz in the Park

The Belleville Band and Choir programs displayed their talents at Jazz in the Park last week. This year, Forensics performances and student art work were included from middle and high school students. Members of the Belleville Music Boosters and Dayton Dairylanders sold food. It was a beautiful night in Library Park!

Whipping Up Wellness Contest

In the Family and Consumer Sciences classroom at New Glarus High School, students in the Family, Food and Society course entered into a state-wide cooking competition through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as their final project in class. The culinary competition is called Whipping Up Wellness and is a competition where teams of middle and high school students were invited to develop a nutritious, student-friendly recipe that can be incorporated easily into the school food service program and used at home.

Old National Bank Donates to New Glarus Library

Old National Bank, New Glarus, recently made a donation towards the New Glarus Public Library's Summer Program, Libraries Rock! From left: Alicia Stegall, Universal Banker, Ignacia Boersma, Children's Librarian, and Laura Vorpahl, Branch Manager.
The library donation will be going towards a variety of needs such as books, performers, healthy snacks, craft supplies, and incentives like t-shirts. Some of the books purchased will be given as prizes to keep and some will be donated to the library collection in the child's name.

New Glarus Area EMS ^Keeping the Pulse^" Run/Walk Fundraiser"

New Glarus Area Emergency Medical Services (NGAEMS) is planning its annual “Keeping the Pulse” run/walk for Saturday, June 9th. This is an important annual fundraiser to support the work of EMS, and every dollar raised goes to support the ambulance service and the equipment it needs to provide around the clock care, 365 days of the year.

Ice Cream Social and Dairy Queen Crowning

The New Glarus Dairy Queen will be named during the Stuessy-Kuenzi American Legion Auxiliary’s Annual Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
The social and ceremony will be held at the American Legion Hall, located at 1121 2nd Street, New Glarus. The menu includes barbecue sandwiches, potato salad, chips, pie, ice cream, cheese and beverages. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the Dairy Queen crowning taking place at 6:00 p.m. All are cordially invited to attend.

New Glarus Spring Clean Up Day

Spring Clean Up Day will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018. 
Accepted items include furniture, household trash, dry carpet (rolled and tied for one person to handle), swing sets (dismantled), bagged box springs and mattresses, bed frames, gas grills (no tanks), charcoal grills, small lawn mowers or snowblowers (gas and oil must be removed).
