Downtown Area Road Closures During New Glarus Music Fest

New Glarus Music Fest will draw visitors to downtown New Glarus from Friday, May 25th through Sunday, May 27th.
Please make note of the following road closure prior to traveling around downtown New Glarus during Music Fest weekend:
1st Street (between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue) will be closed Friday, May 25th, from 6:00 a.m. through Monday, May 28th, tentatively reopening at 9:00 a.m.
5th Avenue (between Railroad Street and 2nd Street) will be closed Friday, May 25th, from 6:00 a.m. through Monday, May 28th, tentatively reopening at 9:00 a.m.

Belleville High School Named Silver Medal Winner

Belleville High School (BHS) was recently named a Silver Medal Winner by U.S. News & World Report in its ranking of high schools, both in the state and nationally.  BHS was ranked as the 37th best high school in the state out of the 494 total in Wisconsin. Three of the schools ranked above Belleville High School are considered alternative or charter schools in the Milwaukee area.

Belleville School District Holding Closing Celebration

You’re invited to the Elementary School Closing Celebration on Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Please join them as they prepare to close the doors for the very last time at the end of this school year. All community members, young and old, are invited for a fun-filled night of food, music and memories.
Events include a book dedication, tours of the school so that you may walk the halls and reminisce, and a DJ. Bring a picnic dinner to enjoy on the lawn, or purchase a dinner for $4.00 using your child’s lunch account or cash.

Relay for Life Fundraiser to be Held at Burreson's

The “Pink Cadillac Ladies” will be out and about in Belleville and the local area doing fundraising events for their Relay for Life team. The American Cancer Society has several Relays in our area throughout the year, and this team will be walking in the Friday, July 20, event in Mount Horeb. The team is walking to honor all cancer survivors and those that have lost their battle because everyone’s life has been touched by this horrible disease. Additionally, they will walk in honor of two special local ladies who are still battling, Kelly Pankratz and Renee Funseth.

Cops N' Bobbers

The Belleville Police Department and Wisconsin DNR will be holding a Cops N’ Bobbers event on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the Belleville Community Park, Shelter 1, 10 Bross Circle.
Children ages K4 grade through 8th grade can participate in Fishing with a Buddy, and children 4th grade and younger can participate in the Fish Pond.
Lunch will be provided by UW Health Belleville Family Medicine.

Belleville Bike Safety Rodeo

The Belleville Police Department held their Bike Rodeo at Sugar River Park on Saturday, May 19th. Participants went through a bicycle safety course, had their bicycles inspected, and had a snack. Several participants won bicycles.

GENEVIEVE WILD

Genevieve Wild, age 89 of Belleville passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Girlies Manor in Mount Horeb, with family at her side. She was born on November 22, 1928, in Waunakee to her parents, John and Anna (Haeusler) Miller, as one of nine children.

RICHARD M. TOLLEFSON

Richard M. Tollefson, age 86 of Verona, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018, with his family by his side at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born on October 30, 1931, in the Town of Vermont to his parents, Leonard and Elizabeth (Jenni) Tollefson.

NANCY L. SIEGENTHALER

Nancy Leigh Siegenthaler, age 66 of Monticello, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at her home. She was born the daughter of Clarence and Gertrude (Schenk) Beyer on June 9, 1951, in Monroe.
Nancy attended Fairview Country School and was a graduate of Albany High School. She was united in marriage to Ralph E. Siegenthaler on June 29, 1968, in Monticello.

Larry D. Sherven, age 71 of rural Belleville, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at his home. He was born on June 26, 1946 in Monroe, to his parents Orton and Esther (Knudtson) Sherven.
