Belleville Spring Clean Up Day

Wednesday, June 6, 2018, is Belleville’s annual spring clean up day.
This is the time to place items that do not fit in your trash cart at the curb to dispose of them (see list of acceptable items below).
Please place these items neatly at your curbside next to your cart by 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6th.
You can sign up for email updates on waste disposal by emailing info@pellitteri.com.

Community Service Awards

Community Service Awards for Firefighter of the Year, Emergency Medical Technician of the Year, Enlisted Guardsman of the Year and Law Officer of the Year were presented during the Memorial Day Program in New Glarus.
Stuessy-Kuenzi New Glarus Post #141 Commander Steve Hodgson presented the honors.

<strong>Masson Graduates From Illinois Wesleyan </strong>
Illinois Wesleyan University honored 389 candidates for graduation during Commencement on May 6, 2018.  Kirk Schroeder ’84, the co-founder of two life science companies, delivered the Commencement address.  <strong>Katelyn Masson</strong>, New Glarus, graduated Summa Cum Laude, having majored in German and Vocal Performance.

New Glarus Class of 2018 Awards and Scholarships

Memorial Day Services - Remembering Those Who Gave All

Memorial Day is a day to honor those who gave their lives in service to their country. Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day.
There were Memorial Day observances in all three local villages and around the nation. There were programs held, and in New Glarus there was a parade and a dedication of a monument in Veterans Memorial Park.

Alphornman Triathlon Committee Makes Donation

On May 9th, members of the Alphornman Triathlon committee donated $250 to the New Glarus Public Library's Music &amp; Movement children's program. The annual Alphornman Triathlon and the AlphornKids Splash-n-Dash will be held Sunday, August 5th, at Village Park. The proceeds help fund various youth activities and events in our community. The library donation is going towards a variety of needs such as books, performers, healthy snacks, craft supplies, and incentives like t-shirts.

Belleville Library Friends' Silent Auction a Success

The Friends of the Belleville Public Library and event chair, Linda Schmitt, were excited to host our second silent auction which culminated with a finale event at Schwoegler's Sugar River Lanes that included bowling and a Euchre party.
The event raised over $3,700, which brings us closer to the reality of a new library building. We are doubly excited because the funds raised will be matched due to the grant from the Schlecht Family Foundation.

Third Annual Monticello PTO Pony Trot

The Third Annual Monticello PTO Pony Trot will be held Saturday, July 7. The event consists of a 1K Little Pony Run starting at 8:00 a.m., and a 5K Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. The event will be at Monticello Schools, with registration opening on the playground at 7:30 a.m. Bathrooms and showers will be available.

Belleville and New Glarus Police Departments to Sponsor Police Citizens Academy

The dates have been set for the upcoming Police Citizens Academy, sponsored by the Belleville and New Glarus Police Departments.  There are a couple of openings.  If you are interested in knowing more about the ins and outs of police work, want to experience the training officers go through, or are curious about all that CSI stuff you see on TV, you would probably enjoy attending this Academy.  Participants will have opportunities to fire weapons, drive emergency vehicles, and collect evidence.  K-9 searches, field sobriety testing, and arrest tactics will be demonstrated.
