Wildcats Pitch No Hitter Against Waterloo

The Belleville baseball team played at Lakeside Lutheran on May 7th, losing 1-4. Lakeside Lutheran was up 3-0 when Belleville scored in the top of the 5th. Lakeside then scored in the bottom of the 6th.
Luke Kelly went 1x3 at bat, while Austin Fahey and Drew Shrader were both 1x4 at bat. Jackson Richter scored the team's only run.
Five different players, Markus Markiewicz, Cody McMillan, Dylan Gratz, Jaydon Winkers and Austin Fahey, pitched for the Wildcats.
On May 8th, the Wildcats hosted a double header against Waterloo.

New Glarus Runs Over Cambridge

The New Glarus baseball team hosted Cambridge on May 8th, winning 10-1. Cambridge was leading until the bottom of the 4th when New Glarus sent four players across home plate. In the bottom of the 5th, the Knights scored seven more runs to seal the victory.
Noah Zimmerman was 2x2 at bat for New Glarus, with two runs scored and one RBI. Andrew Nimtz was 2x3 with three RBIs, while Jared Carney was 2x4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Cooper Dreyfus scored two runs while Matthew Jackson, Connor Siegenthaler, Josh Gray and Holden Latsch each scored one run.

Monticello/Albany Splits Double Header Against Black Hawk

The Monticello/Albany baseball team played at Barneveld on May 7th. The Ponies jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but were not able to hold on and lost 3-13.
On May 8th, the Ponies hosted Black Hawk for a double header. The home team hit its way to a 14-3 win in the first game.
Coach Scott Smice exclaimed, “Travis McCoy pitched an excellent game!”
In the second game, the Ponies weren’t so lucky and they lost 2-12.

High School Students-of-the-Month

For the final time for the 2017-18 school year, Belleville High School teachers recognized Students-of-the-Month, this time from April. Students were treated to a Tano's Pizza lunch on Friday, May 11. Students also received an individualized certificate from their nominating teacher and movies passes donated by Marcus Theaters. Staff noted that this month's nominees were role models to others and showed enthusiasm in class.
Congratulations to these students who show the Wildcat Way!

Middle School Students-of-the-Month

On Friday, May 4, Belleville Middle School teachers recognized Students-of-the-Month for April. Teachers spoke in front of 7th and 8th graders in the Commons to recognize students who have stood out for their efforts and actions in the last month. Students received a certificate, school store Catty Shack buck, and 3-D printed Wildcat from Mrs. Swenson, along with the opportunity to put their handprint up on the middle school walls.
Congratulations to this great bunch of Wildcats who are ending the year on a positive note!

Sugar River Girls Win Southern Capitol Dual Championship

The team competed at the Deerfield Classic on May 4th. The boys finished in fourth place and the girls in eighth place.
<strong>Boys Results</strong>
In the 400m run, Dalton Fahey placed 2nd with a time of 51.90.
Placing 4th in the 3200m run was Adam Nelson, with a PR time of 10:45.00.
In the 110m hurdles, Cole Myers placed 3rd with a time of 15.82. Myers also placed 3rd in the 300m hurdles with a time of 42.13.
The 4x100 relay team of Luke Judd, Nick Schult, JJ Wenger and Milo Hoesly placed 4th, with a time of 46.67.

Sies Signs Letter of Intent to Play Soccer at Upper Iowa University

Belleville High School Senior Aimee Sies signed her National Letter of Intent to continue as a student athlete playing Soccer at Upper Iowa University.  In high school, Aimee received the following awards in the sport of soccer: Post-season Coach's Award, Most Valuable Defensive Player, Capitol Conference 2nd Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Conference (unanimous selection), 1st Team All-Area, Honorable Mention All-State, and team captain in both her junior and senior years.

Golf Team Hosts First Invitational

On Wednesday, May 9th, the New Glarus golf team held their first annual New Glarus 18-hole Invitational at Edelweiss Country Club. 
“The course conditions were a bit sloppy on the back 9 from all the rain,” said Coach Jonathan Goodness. “Then windy on the front, which, in some cases were actually affecting putting, so the golfers had a bit of a challenging day.”
There were three teams at the top of the score sheet separated by only one stroke each.  Beaver Dam shot a 342, Edgerton shot a 341 and Platteville won the meet with a team score of 340.

Community Night in New Glarus

On Monday, June 4th, the Mallards will be coming to town and there will be one youth baseball game at 7:30 p.m., at Veterans Memorial Park.  
There will be a boulder climbing wall, an obstacle course, a bounce house, face painting, concessions, and much more. This year’s sponsors include Midwest Dental, First Weber-Joel Hedeman and Absolute Interiors.
