Seeking Volunteers for Badger and Sugar River Trails Friends Group

Please join in our efforts to support and promote the trails on Saturday, May 12, at 3:00 p.m., at the Old Library in Library Park, Belleville.
Agenda Topics Include: Nomination and election of officers, discussion of maintenance, educational and other projects, and discussion of how to preserve this valuable resource.
Light refreshments will be provided.

Sugar River Continues Season Undefeated

The Sugar River soccer team hosted Columbus on April 30th, shutting them out 2-0. Julia McNamer, assisted by Aimee Sies, scored the first goal for the Raiders in the first half. Sies assisted Kalin O’Rourke in the second half with a goal.
On May 1st, the team traveled to Lodi, winning 2-0.
“Considering either Sugar River or Lodi have won the past 10 conference titles, the game had both teams eager to take the lead in the race to winning the 2018 title,” said Coach John Ziperski.

Sugar River Track News

Sugar River participated in the Oregon Relays on April 27th.
“Despite the weather, the kids did a great job coming out and performing. This meet gives some kids an opportunity to do different events then they usually do over the course of a season,” said Coach Willy Johnson. “The kids have fun with it and this year was no different.”

In the 3x110m shuttle hurdle, the team of Cole Myers, Sean McDermott and Evan Reifert placed 3rd with a time of 57.90.

Knights Fall to Heights

The New Glarus baseball team hosted Wisconsin Heights on Friday, May 4th, losing to the visitors, 1-6. The score was tied at zero when, in the top of the 3rd, Wisconsin Heights put six players across home plate. New Glarus answered with one run late in the 4th.
Connor Siegenthaler was 1x2 at bat. Jared Carney was 1x3 at bag with one run and Cooper Dreyfus was 1x3 at bat for the Knights.
Jared Carney pitched for the majority of the game, striking out five. Andrew Nimtz relieved Carney at the mound, striking out two.

Ponies Lose DH Against Potosi

The Monticello Ponies baseball team hosted Potosi for a double header on Friday, May 4th. The Ponies lost the first game, 1-6. Potosi won the second game, 6-5.
Monticello played Barneveld on May 7, a double header vs Black Hawk on May 8th, and will play at Highland on May 11th.

Wildcats Victorious Over Knights

The Belleville baseball team hosted the New Glarus Knights on Tuesday, May 1st, winning 5-4. New Glarus took the early lead and the Wildcats trailed behind until the bottom of the 7th inning when they scored the runs that would win the game.
Jaydon Winkers was 2x3 at bat for the Wildcats, with one run scored. Coltyn Winkers and Austin Fahey were both 1x3 at bat, both scoring a run each. Nate Mabis scored the other two runs for Belleville.

Karlen Farm to Host Breakfast on the Farm

The 2018 Green County Breakfast on the Farm will be hosted Saturday, May 26th, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at the Danance Karlen Farm, located at W4876 County Road C, Monticello. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $7.00 for adults (ages 11 and older), $4.00 for children 5 – 10 years of age and children 4 years and under are free.

Belleville Dairy Queen Bids Farewell

Hello, I am Mikayla Brey your 2017-2018 Belleville Dairy Queen. I wanted thank everyone for giving me the opportunity to be involved in the Green County Dairy Queen Program. I have learned so much more on the dairy industry and how it works. I have grown in confidence and gained the confidence to be sure of myself when talking to the public.

Belleville High School Advanced Placement Excellence

The Wisconsin Advanced Placement Advisory Council (WAPAC) recognized Belleville High School as a Level I AP Pacesetter School.  Level I is WAPAC's highest honor.  To achieve this level, a high school must have 30% or more of its graduating seniors take at least one Advanced Placement exam and have 70% or more of its students earn scores of 3 or above (out of 5) on the exams.  Last year, BHS had a 31.5% participation rate, and 73.6% of Wildcats scored 3 or higher on their exams.

Digitize Your Memories: Video Edition

Do you have old home movies that you’d like to save on DVD for a new generation to enjoy?  The New Glarus Public Library can help with that!  During the week of May 14th, they will have video digitizing equipment on loan from SCLS.  You may sign up to bring in your old home movies on VHS or Camcorder tapes, and library staff will convert them to DVD for you.  Because videos are converted in real time, they are limiting patrons to six hours of video for the week.  If there is enough demand for the equipment, they will borrow it again later this year.
