New Glarus Prom - Midnight in Paris

New Glarus Prom was held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, in the New Glarus High School Gym. The theme for the prom was ^Midnight in Paris.^"  Prom Queen was Faith Bump and King was Jacob Krantz. Monticello Track News

The Monticello Ponies track team competed in River Ridge on April 24th. The boys team placed fifth while the girls team placed fourth.
<strong>Boys Results</strong>
Cody Garfoot placed 4th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.71.
Cade Femrite placed 3rd in the 200m dash with a PR of 25.81.
Robert Burt placed 3rd in the 400m run with a PR of 58.63, Rudy Wicker placed 4th with a PR of 58.71, and Cade Femrite placed 5th with a PR of 59.01.

Knights Pitchers Allow Zero Hits in Two Games Last Week

The New Glarus Knights baseball team played at Marshall on April 23rd, winning 3-1. The Knights scored two runs in the 5th and one in the 7th. Pitchers Noah Zimmerman and Jared Carney didn’t allow a single hit.
Zach Feller, Holden Latsch and Connor Siegenthaler all went 1x2 at bat. Scoring runs were Feller, Latsch and Matthew Jackson.
On April 24th, the Knights played at Pecatonica and won 6-5.

New Glarus Golf Places Fifth at Cambridge

New Glarus played a mini-meet at Cambridge on April 23rd. New Glarus placed fifth, with a score of 176, tying with Cambridge, but New Glarus lost the tiebreaker.
Matt Hach led the team shooting a 38, Cole Runde 44, Ty Ready 45, Jared Martinson 49, and Jacob Krantz 54.  Watertown Luther Prep won the meet with a score of 167.

Ponies Have Tough Week

The Monticello/Albany baseball team hosted Pecatonica on April 23rd and lost 2-21 and played against Barneveld on April 24th, losing 2-14. They also lost double headers on Friday against Belmont and Saturday against Benton/Shullsburg. The games at Benton/Shullsburg were 0-11 and 1-15.
“Monticello/Albany is hitting the ball well in all games but struggling with some pitching and mental decisions with the baseball.  Making adjustments and positive strides in the right directions,” said Coach Scott Smice.

Wildcats Win Exciting Game Against Marshall

The Belleville baseball team hosted Palmyra-Eagle on April 23rd, winning 3-2. Belleville was on the board first, with a run in the 3rd. Palmyra-Eagle tied it up in the top of the 7th, but Belleville was able to get 2 players past home plate to win.
Drew Shrader was 2x4 at bat with 1 run and 1 RBI. Luke Kelly and Dylan Gratz were both 1x2 at bat, and Austin Fahey and Jackson Richter scored 1 run each.

Sugar River Soccer Has Winning Week

Sugar River girls soccer hosted Poynette/Portage on April 23rd, winning 5-0.
Morgan Hustad, assisted by Sam Trainor, scored the first goal. Shortly after that, Ellie Gentilli, assisted by Karstyn Rossing, scored the second goal and near the end of the first half Julia McNamer, assisted by Karstyn Rossing, scored the third goal. Scoring in the second half was Kalin O’Rourke, on a penalty kick, and Aimee Sies.
On April 24th, Sugar River hosted Monroe and shut them out, 3-0.

New Glarus Farmers Market Opens for 2018 Season in New Location with More Local Vendors

A dedicated team of local volunteers is working hard to bring back the New Glarus Farmers Market for the 2018 season. The Market will kick off on Friday May 11, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., in the New Glarus Hometown Pharmacy Parking Lot on Highway 69, south of the stop lights in New Glarus. In the plans for the 2018 season include vendor offerings of amazingly fresh, locally grown produce, meat, eggs, baked goods, jams, honey, pickles, sauerkraut, plants, fibers, artisanal crafts, and much more.
