Monticello's Annual Spring Garage Sales

Once again we will be offering categorized maps and numbered signs for your registered sale for our community wide spring garage sales. Registration forms will be available online at www.monticello-wi.com under our Spring Garage Sale Events tab, or at the Monticello Village Hall.

A Night of the Arts at Library Park

The Belleville High School Jazz Ensemble and Vocal Jazz groups would like to invite you to attend our fourth annual “Jazz in the Park” concert.  This concert will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd, at 6:00 p.m., at Library Park in downtown Belleville. Both groups will be performing contemporary jazz selections featuring such artists as The Beatles, Coldplay, Jamiroquai, the Blues Brothers, Michael Buble, Chicago and Sting. This concert is free and features about 50 of our outstanding high school musicians who have been rehearsing together since October.

Bike Safety Rodeo

The Belleville Police Department is hosting a Bicycle Safety Rodeo at a new location this year, Sugar River Park, on Saturday, May 19, 2018, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. It is for children in grades 4K through 4th grade.  The event will be held rain or shine!
Activities will include safety courses to ride through, free professional bike inspections, proper helmet fit checks and, if the weather is good, a visit from the police horses.

Virginia L. Zweifel, age 78 of Monticello, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. Virginia was born on February 14, 1940 in Monroe, the daughter of Glen and Viola (Rufer) Rosenstiel.

ROBIN L. STOIKES

Robin Lynn Stoikes, age 58, passed away with family by her side on Friday, May 4, 2018, at her home due to Glioblastoma. She was born in Monroe on June 11, 1959, to her parents, Robert and Virginia (Maddrell) Lovelace.

RICHARD G. LEGLER

Richard G. Legler, age 94 of New Glarus, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the New Glarus Home. He was born at home on February 6, 1924, to his parents, George and Marie (Stump) Legler.
Richard graduated from New Glarus High School in 1941. He farmed with his family and then worked for the railroad and then Federal Industries in Belleville until retiring. Richard enjoyed fishing, bowling, shooting pool, and gardening. He was also an avid Packer and Brewer fan. Richard was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus.

Donna J. Karlen, age 85 of Monticello, died Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Donna was born on April 19, 1933 in Monroe, the daughter of Cloyance and Hilda (Dick) Karlen.
