Henrietta A. Paulson, age 100, a former New Glarus resident, passed away at Aster Assisted Living in Monroe. She was born on August 28, 1917, the daughter of Anton and Amanda (Schachte) Uselmann.

Karlen Farm to Host Breakfast on the Farm

The 2018 Green County Breakfast on the Farm will be hosted Saturday, May 26th, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., at the Danance Karlen Farm, located at W4876 County Road C, Monticello. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $7.00 for adults (ages 11 and older), $4.00 for children 5 – 10 years of age and children 4 years and under are free.

Chloe Elmer Named Monticello Poppy Princess

Chloe Elmer has been chosen as the Poppy Princess for Monticello this year, representing the Amstutz-Marty American Legion Post #256 of Monticello. She is 10 years old and in the fifth grade, and is the daughter of Joe and Deb Elmer. Chloe has a brother, Trae, and a dog, Cleo. Her grandparents are Tom and Carol Kubly, and the late Richard and Barbara Unke. Barbara was the President of the Amstutz-Marty American Legion Post #256 Auxiliary for five years, or longer, up until her death in 2016.

10:30 a.m., in the Rehmstedt Gymnasium.

<strong>New Glarus </strong>
Parade at 9:30 a.m., starting at the New Glarus Village Hall (see parade route changes on page 6). Following the parade there will be a program to follow at the New Glarus Elementary School at approximately 10:00 a.m. After the program there will be dedication of the newest marker at the Veterans Park.

Capitol Conference Academic Honors Presented

On Monday night, May 14, the Capitol Conference celebrated its Top 10 academic seniors from each school. The event was held at the Sheraton Inn in Madison. Lake Mills High School Principal Cale Vogel, the incoming Capitol Conference President, served as the Master of Ceremonies. John Leadholm, the retiring boys' basketball coach and Dean of Students at Cambridge High School, was the guest speaker at dinner.

Arbor Day Celebrated in New Glarus

New Glarus received its twenty-third consecutive Tree City USA award and a total of 28 trees were planted in New Glarus on Friday, May 4th, as part of the village's annual Arbor Day tree planting.
Adult volunteers and New Glarus High School students, under the direction of Dan Ziegler, joined Village Forester Paul Jennrich in planting trees throughout the village.

Third Annual Monticello PTO Pony Trot

The Third Annual Monticello PTO Pony Trot will be held Saturday, July 7. The event consists of a 1K Little Pony Run starting at 8:00 a.m., and a 5K Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. The event will be at Monticello Schools, with registration opening on the playground at 7:30 a.m. Bathrooms and showers will be available.
